How to Destroy Safes in 7 Days to Die
These items don’t come without a cost and are usually in the hardest-to-reach places in buildings. You are going to need to fight your way through the zombies to get to them as they’re typically located at the top, underneath, or at the very back. And when you do finally reach these crates filled with goodies they will most likely be locked. Thankfully, there are a few ways you can unlock them.
You can simply destroy them as the game has a very destructible environment and these crates are no exception. They have a health bar and once that hits zero, it will turn from being locked to unlocked letting you loot what is inside and come back when the loot respawns for a fresh set of goodies. The destroying method, however easier sounding it is, can take much longer than the alternative, especially if you don’t have the right tools (a pickaxe will do the job best).

The faster method (if you already have the items) is to use a lockpick. Lockpicks can be found throughout most buildings. All you need to do is hold down the interact button until an interaction wheel shows up, then just select the lockpick and it will start a countdown. During this countdown, the lockpick can break at any time or it might last the whole countdown. So make sure you’re carrying a few.
How to Craft Lockpicks in 7 Days to Die
Lockpicks can be crafted in a forge but before you can craft them you will need to find and ready every “The Great Heist” magazine. This can be found in many different places but a bookstore is your best chance. There are seven volumes of this magazine and once you have read all seven, you can craft the lockpicks inside a forge for one forged iron and a mechanical part.
