Let us save you the search. If you’re hunting Vault locations in Fallout 76, look no further! Below, we’ve listed all the locations you should be able to find the Vaults in Fallout 76 and, of course, which Vaults they are!
In Fallout 76, there are currently six Vaults scattered across the Appalachia region of West Virginia. These Vaults act as safe-havens for the remnants of humanity amidst the chaos of the Great War. However… They often led to morally-questionable social experiments, corruption, and worse.
Below, we’ve written up a run-down of each Vault’s location along with a short bio. Some of these Vaults are currently sealed in Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 Vault Locations In Appalachia
Vault 76
Vault 76 is one you really should know, all things considered. You’ll be able to find it right in the middle of The Forest, the first area of Fallout 76. Below, you’ll see it’s location on the map:
Vault 76 is the “Official Vault of the Tricentennial”, acting as one of the 17 Control Vaults across the ex-United States. Despite official guidelines, Vault 76 was deemed integral to the survival of the United States and its Overseer was given privileges to ignore standard operating procedures.
One thing to note, Vault 76 cannot be nuked in the quest I Am Become Death. Shame.
Vault 51
Next up, we have Vault 51. This Vault is located in the northern areas of The Forest region of Appalachia. Below, you’ll see its location on the map:
Unlike other Vaults, Vault 51 did not have an Overseer when it was sealed during the Great War. A ZAX supercomputer was instead installed in order to determine the best leader amongst those sealed within. With various experiments and elections failing, factionalism grew in the Vault and chaos ensured.
Vault 51 is the focal point for Nuclear Winter, the battle royale mode in Fallout 76. In this mode, 52 players compete for the position of Vault 51 Overseer. In-game, it is currently inaccessible. Only the outside areas around the Vault are accessible.
Vault 79
Vault 79 is found over on the eastern edge of the Savage Divide North region of Appalachia. Below, you’ll find its location on the map:
Vault 79 was constructed in secret by Vault-Tec, with no expenses spared in its’ concealment. Different contractors were used to supply construction materials and the land was acquired from locals as opposed to the government agencies.
Vault 79 was designed to store and protect gold; all the gold from Fort Knox was transported here in an attempt to preserve it prior to the rebuilding of the United States’ economy. In-game, rumours of the treasures hidden within are widespread and Vault Dwellers can breach Vault 79 to find out if it’s true. There are a number of hostile robots and automated turrets within the main areas of the vault, with Ghouls and a Wendigo further in.
Vault 94
Vault 94 is located just south of Vault 79, on the edge of The Mire region of Appalachia. You can find its location on the map below:
Vault 94 was added to Fallout 76 as apart of the Nuclear Winter update, bringing a new Vault Raid to the game. Now, it is open to be freely explored by Vault Dwellers at will. In-game, this vault was designed test the adaptability of non-violent ideological groups when presented with post-apocalyptic scenarios and societies.
The one unique feature of this Vault is the G.E.C.K. Wing, the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. This is a huge agricultural facility with a massive seeding bank containing all known plants that were suitable for consumption and used in medicines. This, obviously made it a target.
Vault 63
Vault 63 is located in the south-east of the Ash Heap region in Appalachia. You can find its location on the map below:
Originally, Vault 63 was slated to release fully as a part of the Nuclear Winter Vault Raids, however it is still unreleased. In-game, little is known about the Vault and what is within.
The entrance to the Vault is within a cave, concealed by a small one-room shack. There is a working terminal, however it doesn’t reveal any information. Presumably, when it is released as a Vault Raid, the objectives will be similar to the current objectives present in the Vault Raids.
Vault 96
Vault 96 is located in the Savage Divide South area of Fallout 76. You can find its location on the map below:
This Vault was originally slated to be a part of the Vault Raids, along with Vault 63. However, this was scrapped in favour of the introduction of Daily Ops. In-game, Vault 96 was advertised as “An Ark for the Atomic Age”.
This Vault has one of the world’s largest cryogenic storage facilities, with ten thousand animals stored within. It’s primary goal was to monitor the conditions of the surface Post-War and attempt to balance ecological systems with the reintroduction of the local fauna. Those within began to experiment with mutated creatures in the Vault and soon these creatures began to Shift ( an ability similar to teleportation).
Currently, this Vault is permanently sealed and it’s interior unfinished in the current build of Fallout 76.
