A clan is a group of players under one name in Warframe, helping out others and running missions together, but should you find & join one?
Joining a Clan in Warframe
Joining a clan in Warframe is a relatively simple process. You’ll need an invite to one to start with. From there you simply need to accept by going into the communications screen, then the Inbox section. Any pending invites will be located here, and you simply need to accept one as prompted.
You will also need to craft a Clan key in the Foundry to access the Dojo on your own after joining one. It is recommended to make one yourself as soon as you can, otherwise, someone will need to invite you into the Clan Dojo each time you want to make use of it, either for trading or to make use of the clan research options.
Finding a Warframe Clan
The fastest way to get yourself in a Clan if you want one immediately is through Warframes dedicated recruiting chat.
It is simply titled “Recruiting” when hovered over and is located next to trade chat by default. Recruiting chat is used both for players finding missions and players advertising or seeking Clans. If you see a clan advert here that catches your interest, you can simply click on the person’s name who sent the message and directly message them to ask about the clan. Or you can ask for an invite if you’re already sold on it.
Many Clans are constantly seeking new members, so it won’t take particularly long to find a recruiter this way. If you can’t see any, you can always put a message into recruiting chat yourself asking for a Clan invite. Or failing that, seek out other players and make your own Clan.

Why should I join a Clan?
Most players in Warframe will decide to join or create a Clan at some stage. Clans are popular in a wide variety of games because of the social value of having other players of the same game around to play with regularly.
However, Warframe Clans specifically have significant advantages over Solo play, aside from just being a group of players to work with. The extent of this is such that playing without a clan at a high level is seen as a self-inflicted handicap.
The most obvious benefit of a Clan is that it’ll grant access to a customised Clan Dojo social hub. While that’s nice alone, it’s nothing compared to what the Dojo can actually offer with gameplay benefits. The Dojo can act as a trading area as mentioned above, with a custom tax rate that can be lowered to 0%. And that is comparatively little compared to the various research labs.
These labs contain clan-exclusive researches that can unlock Warframes, Weapons, Tools and more that you cannot access without the use of a Dojo.
Gameplay benefits of a Clan Dojo
Joining a Clan that has already completed their research in the labs will give access immediately. All you need to do is simply copy the blueprints from the respective items you want. These will then be ready to be used in your foundry. There is a small credit cost per blueprint, but that is comparatively tiny against the possible research costs if you were to attempt to research every item yourself in a Solo Clan.
Without getting get access to a Clan Dojo, it is impossible to access the vast majority of these things. The only way to obtain a few of the crafting blueprints outside of research is by buying them from someone who does have a Clan with access to them. This only applies to a select few event-unlocked pieces of research, however, such as the Ignis Wraith.
Others are simply entirely inaccessible to players without a clan. So how many things is that, exactly?

Using my own Clan screen as an example; There are at least a total of 201 research items available in Warframe at the moment. The vast majority of which will be inaccessible without a clan. Even among the tradeable items, you’ll need platinum to get them from another player.
This research system alone is probably the most compelling argument to join a clan in Warframe. Without one, you will miss out on these benefits. No access to a potentially free trading hub. Losing out on over a hundred weapon options, as well as a handful of Warframes.
Additionally, account experience in Warframe uses item mastery. Avoiding clans in Warframe means fewer items you can level up, so do consider finding a clan to join.
