Cult of the Lamb: How to Get a Lobster

Cult of the Lamb: How to get lobster.

At some point during your exploration of the Darkwood, you’ll stumble across a fishing… fish. Speak with him and you’ll unlock the Pilgrim’s Passage location on your map. There, you’ll be able to partake in Cult of the Lamb’s fishing minigame and get a Holy Talismen for which you’ll need a lobster.

You’ll also be given a quest called “The Beasts Below the Waves”. This quest requires you to catch a bunch of different fish and awards a Holy Talismen piece. You can use this to unlock new Fleeces, so it’s a pretty valuable reward. Unfortunately, this quest asks you to give the fisherman a number of rare fish, including a lobster.

Unfortunately, in Cult of the Lamb, to get a lobster you need to rely almost entirely on luck. Lobsters are rare fish that have a chance to spawn each day in Pilgrim’s Passage. There are no special requirements or tasks you need to complete in order to get one – all you have to do is get lucky.

Head to the passage every single day and make sure you catch all the fish. If luck’s on your side one of them will be a lobster. If it isn’t, you’ll have to come back another day.

We all hate relying on RNG. Thankfully, there are ways around the horribly low spawn rates for lobsters in Cult of the Lamb. Well, there’s a way around the spawn rate rather than multiple effective methods – and that’s in the form of the Ritual of the Ocean’s Bounty ritual.

This ritual is unlocked at rank three of the Sustenance Doctrine tree. When you perform the ritual, you will be able to catch double the regular amount of fish and it makes fish (meaning tuna, swordfish, lobster, octopus, and squid) spawn far more frequently.

So, it gives you double the chance to get them and increases their spawn rate, exponentially bettering your chances at getting a lobster in Cult of the Lamb. The downside to that is the fact that you’re missing out on the opposite ritual – Ritual of the Harvest. Ritual of the Harvest will instantly make all of your seeds grow when you perform it.

Compared to Ocean’s Bounty, this effect is pretty bad. You should be picking Ritual of the Ocean’s Bounty in general at this Doctrine tier, so the fact that it lets you easily get lobster is an added bonus.

There are other ways to get lobster in Cult of the Lamb. For example, you have the Neptune Tarot Card. It gives all defeated enemies a chance to drop a fish. However, you have to be lucky enough to get the card, then lucky enough for an enemy to drop a fish, then lucky enough for that fish to be a lobster. Needless to say, this is woefully inefficient.

If you really want to get a lobster in Cult of the Lamb, get the Ritual of the Ocean’s Bounty and just go fishing. Otherwise, grind out the fishing spot in Pilgrim’s Passage every day in hopes of landing one. It’s just a matter of patience and luck.
