Best Tech Upgrades in Rainbow Six Extraction

Extraction Best Tech

Rainbow Six Extraction brings our beloved operators and their gadgets from Rainbow Six: Siege to the new battlefield. Speaking of gadgets, just like in Siege every operator has their signature gadget, like Sledge’s hammer. But there are also secondary gadgets that are universal to every operator, those are called REACT tech. There are some familiar tools like a Recon Drone or a Smoke Grenade but also a few innovative devices like a Scan Mine. To help you figure out which ones to pick on your mission here is the best tech in Rainbow Six Extraction.

Tech and How to Unlock It

If you played Siege you will know that the use of gadgets is a key to victory. While that is not as important in Extraction, tech can occasionally make or break your incursion. There are two categories of tech: explosive and gear. You can only pick one of each for the mission but at first, there will not be much of a choice. The first tech in the game is a Smoke Grenade and a Recon Drone. All future tech needs to be unlocked.

The process of unlocking is quite simple. After completing a mission you gain experience that progresses a milestone. Milestones are basically your account levels and you can track them in the “Progression” tab. Every level unlocks new operators, locations, grants you XP and cosmetics. Among the rewards, there are also REACT Tokens that can be spent on unlocking tech in the “Tech” tab.

Eventually, you will be able to unlock all of the tech in the game but to help you with priorities we have a list of the best tech prepared for you.

Best Tech (Solo and Co-op)

Preferred tech can vary depending on whether you are taking on a mission by yourself or in a squad. It also depends on whether you are with your friends or with randoms. However, the general best are around the same for both situations. You can try to go more advanced and split responsibilities among the team with each member carrying something specific, but we’ll leave that to you. For now, here is the list of the general best explosive and gear tech in Rainbow Six Extraction.

Explosive:

  • Smoke/Stun Grenade. Disorienting an Archaean allows you to perform a takedown on it. This can prove critical when fighting an elite enemy or someone like Rooter or Sower who are annoying to kill.
  • Impact/Fragmentation Grenade. Classic pack of grenades is another way of battling a tough enemy if you are not a fan of stealth. Impact grenades are also great for breaking soft walls and hatches in case you don’t have Sledge on the team.

Scan devices like Scan Mine or scan Grenade are not bad. They mark enemies that go through the area that is scanned. But they can be used only in a limited number of scenarios. On a low difficulty, there are only a few enemies so a scan isn’t required. And on higher difficulties with swarms of enemies, I’d rather have something like an Impact Grenade to blow them all up, especially if playing solo. The same goes for Nitro Cells and Claymores.

Gear:

  • Body Armor/Revive Kit. The body armor is a good general choice with its incoming damage reduction. On the other hand, Revive Kit can be risky to use, as you will still be surrounded by the enemies that CAN and WILL finish you off. I’d say you can choose Revive Kit but go for Body Armor for safety. Remember that for extra either of those you can pick Doc or Rook.
  • XR Recon Drone. While the regular Recon Drone is not too useful the XR version actually is. It automatically scans for hostiles, objectives and supply crates. It not only replaces any Scan Device you might have wanted to use in the Explosive slot, but also allows you to plan the incusrion route to the tiniest detail.

Other gear (considering there isn’t much of it) fades in the back as it mostly focuses on replenishing your supplies/health. And throughout the missions, you will find a bunch of Supply Crates to keep you fed, armed, and extremely dangerous. The exception is if you are playing in a squad, especially with randoms. Supply crates are shared. That means that one teammate can grab all the loot leaving you with nothing.

The final best tech in Rainbow Six Extraction is REACT Laser. It is at the end of the list but it’s worth leveling up for. This device doesn’t take any slots and is automatically equipped on all your operators. REACT Laser is a beam that dissolves the Sprawl (A sticky black substance that’s everywhere) when aiming at it. Basically a vacuum cleaner against aliens.
