Black Ops Cold War: Zombies Complete Wonder Weapon Guide

Updated:

The latest instalment in the series, Black Ops Cold War Zombies has brought a brand new wonder weapon to the playing field. The D.I.E. Shockwave may only have a few shots in it, but it’s well worth grabbing. Here’s everything you need to know…

In Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the D.I.E. Shockwave is the latest Wonder Weapon to be added to the game mode. On Die Maschine, it appears alongside the Ray Gun as a Random Box Drop. However, you can also find a D.I.E. Shockwave on the map itself.

There are a few steps you’ll need to complete though, before grabbing the D.I.E. Shockwave. However, it isn’t too complicated and you will find that the first step almost happens naturally as you play.

The D.I.E. Shockwave is a weapon that unleashes a powerful blast of energy upon fired. It doesn’t have the longest range, but it matches the effective range of a shotgun in-game. It deals a ridiculous amount of damage, upwards of 10,000 per shot and can comfortably deal with a whole horde of enemies in later rounds.

The one thing that’s worth noting is, it loses it’s effectiveness against Special and Elite enemies fast. It only has three shots in it, as each one uses up 20 charge, and these enemies quickly scale to have more health than damage it does.

It is recommended that the D.I.E. Shockwave is saved to deal with tight spots and large groups of enemies, as opposed to Special and Elite enemies.

Thankfully, the D.I.E. Shockwave is affected by Max Ammo Power Ups and it can also be charged by holding the ADS input. This is a slow process, as it gradually drains enemies health until it can fully absorb them to charge.

However, during Insta Kill… This is an instant kill. So, it is useful in quickly sweeping up large numbers of enemies during this Power Up.

In order to purchase ammo for the D.I.E. Shockwave at an Ammo Resupply, it will cost 10,000 Essence. A hefty amount, even by later round standards. It is also worth noting that this weapon cannot be upgraded in the Pack-A-Punch machine.

Anyway… Below, we’re going to run through how you can get your hands on this unique wonder weapon in Black Ops Cold War Zombies…

Cold War Zombies Wonder Weapon Guid

There are a couple steps you’ll need to complete in order to get the D.I.E. Shockwave wonder weapon in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

Firstly, you’ll need to find a Keycard. These appear as Legendary Loot Drops from defeating a Megaton and the two subsequent Megaton Bombers.

Please Note: A Megaton only spawns once you have turned on the Power and gone into the Dark Aether to retrieve the Pack-A-Punch machine part.

Secondly, you will need to find the right place to put this Keycard. Seems simple enough, right?

The correct console to put the Keycard in can be found in a room underground, above the Deadshot Daquiri spawn location.

Once this Keycard is in the correct place, you will need to find the second item for the D.I.E. Item Section at the bottom of the “Scoreboard Screen”.

This Remote Control can be found in the draw that opens next to the Keycard Insert in the same room as before. This Remote Control will allow you to remotely control ( see what I did there?) a D.I.E. Shockwave that is stuck behind a door.

This is located in the “Living Room” area of the main above-ground building. The starting area of Nacht Det Untoten.

When activated, it will act like a trap would in other Zombies maps. For a short period of time, it sucks up zombies that cross it’s path ( in front of the door). You may need to do this a couple of times, but when it’d one the door will pop open and the D.I.E. Shockwave will be ready for you to take.

How To Access Ammo Mods For D.I.E. Shockwave?

Much like you can equip Ammo Mods to any regular weapon in Die Maschine, you can also add them to the D.I.E. Shockwave once you have it! There are currently four variations of D.I.E. Shockwave to get your hands on… These are:

Thermophasic ( Fire), Nova 5 ( Toxic), Electrobolt ( Lightning), and Cryo-Emitter ( Ice). These four represent the four standard Ammo Mod properties, just with slightly different names.

Each of these Elemental Variants of D.I.E. Shockwave have additional ammunition space. Therefore, it’s not the worst idea to pursue them in-game in an effort to make the weapon a viable pick into later rounds.

Electrobolt – Lightning D.I.E.

In order to access this, you’re going to need to enter an anomaly that appears beneath Pack-A-Punch after several rounds. You must enter through this portal, not the one on the surface.

Once inside, you will need to go into the Dark Aether and look for glowing orange crystals around the edge of the map’s playable areas. When you find one, you can suck it up with the D.I.E. Shockwave to give it a charged shot.

Then, you must go back down to Pack-A-Punch while in the Dark Aether and shoot the D.I.E. Shockwave at a small case where the Anomaly you entered would be in the normal realm.

You will need to do this three times. The Three Crystal locations are as follows:

  • By the Tunnel Entrance near Jugger-Nog;
  • On the roof of Nacht Der Untoten, near the Perks Machine;
  • Near the other Tunnel Entrance, the Exfil Site area, to the right of the buyable door;

Once you have these three, you will be able to collect the D.I.E. Electrobolt upgrade from the case and switch between the two as-and-when. You do not need to do all three of these in one attempt. They will carry over.

Thermophasic – Fire D.I.E.

In order to access this, you will need to find a fuse which can be accessed in the Dark Aether. It can be found under the detached nose-section of the crashed plane near Jugger-Nog. It is easily visible, with an orange outline.

It is inaccessible in the Normal Realm due to the nose portion of the plane being grounded. However, in the Dark Aether the wreckage is lifted due to the Aether Tunnel.

You must shoot the fuse box to open it before teleporting.

When you have this, you must return and place the fuse in a crate opposite Deadshot Daquiri where prompted. This will then cut the box in half and immediately teleport you out of the Dark Aether.

Then, if you head to a truck at the entry-way to the Exfil Site area of the map, you will find the D.I.E. Thermophasic in a box for you to equip.

Cryo-Emitter – Ice D.I.E.

In order to access this, you will need to first find the Empty Vial. This can be done by heading up to the roof of Nacht Der Untoten and shooting a wooden crate off the roof. This has to be done with the D.I.E. Shockwave.

Then, you have to get an Elite Enemy to fire it’s radioactive ranged attack at the mushrooms growing on the tree at the entrance to the Exfil Site area.

Once this has been done, it will begin to glow and there will be an in-game reference to this happening.

Then, you must place the flask down underneath it and it will begin to fill. Once filled, you must head down to the Medical Bay and there will be a crate you can interact with opposite Speed Cola.

Freeze the chains off the box and you’ll have the D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter.

Nova 5 – Toxic D.I.E.

In order to access the Toxic Ammo Mod for the D.I.E., you will need to grab the Empty Cannister located above the “Living Room” area of Nacht Der Untoten.

Then, you will need to head back down into the area where Deadshot Daquiri is located and look for a valve that you can place the Empty Cannister under.

Next, you will need to kill a Plaguehound right next to the valve in order to collect the Toxic Gases it emits. This will only take one Plaguehound kill and an audio confirmation will happen in-game when it is done.

Next, you will need to find a box with vines wrapped around it along the wall opposite to the detached nose cone of the crashed plane. It is on your left if you approach from Stamin-Up.

Then, you need to shoot the Full Cannister and it will explode. The box will open and you will have the D.I.E. Nova 5.
