In a Twitter post, the Bravely Default team has revealed that they plan to announce multiple titles this year. Alongside this tweet is an art piece that features characters from the Bravely Default series and Triangle Strategy. Additionally, there are also felines in the artwork.
Triangle Strategy is an upcoming tactical role playing game from Square Enix, which is being led by Tomoya Asano, producer of the Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler games. It is currently the only game revealed by the Bravely Default team in development.
It is an isometric turn-based strategy game where characters move and attack within a grid-based playing field. The terrain will influence the combat, as well as parts of the environment. An example previously shown during a Nintendo Direct is setting a cottage on fire to change the terrain.
Story will also be affected by players and NPCs’ decision, which are based on different values related to morality, liberty, and utility.
Currently, Triangle Strategy is planned for release on the Nintendo Switch on March 4th, 2022.
As of now, there are no hints as to what the next titles that the Bravely Default team has in store for this year, but a safe bet would be another turn-based strategy game. Whether it may be a part of any of their existing work remains to be seen, however.
With the moderate success of Bravely Default II, it would be interesting to see another iteration of the series, possibly a continuation of the latest title or a different continuity altogether.
