Cloud9 has officially signed its first all-female professional Valorant team. The MAJKL team became known as the best all-female Valorant team after taking first place at last Ignition invitational. They dominated the tournament remaining undefeated and losing only a couple of rounds in the initial phase.

Who is Team MAJKL
With no parent organization, MAJKL secured a 5th-8th-place finish at their first tournament: the Counter Logic Gaming Blitz Open Cup. The roster is composed by: Alexis alexis Guarrasi, Annie Annie Roberts, Jasmine Jazzyk1ns Manankil, Katsumi, and Melanie meL Capone.
The team made a name for itself in the Valorant pro-player community in September, whre they took first place at the FTW Summer Showdown tournament. They claimed a $25,000 prize for that event only.
“What impressed me about MAJKL is that they had to work hard to perfect their game, find each other and then compete as a unit. They are a group of talented women who have come together with the goal of being the best in the game and we are committed to doing what is necessary to get there, and watching them improve over the past few months has been incredible. They have shown so many of the values that we have here at C9, both inside and outside the game, and I can’t wait to welcome them to Cloud9” – Gaylen Malone, Senior General Manager of Cloud9.
This roster will compete for the organization as Cloud9 White while the other existing VALORANT team will compete as Cloud9 Blue.
A step forward equality in Esports

According to a Newzoo study, women make up 46% of the gaming industry and 29% of Esports fans are women. However, WomenInGames.org survey stated that 71% of respondents say women aren’t represented enough in Esports and gaming.
Competitive Esports should be a place where women and men can compete on equal footing, but the industry is still subject to the same problems that beset other events. Female gamers experience the same kind of harassment and unequal treatment that women in other sports are subjected to. With this team we can say that we are seeing more and more willingness in professional leagues to achieve equality in gender representation. Since Valorant is such a new title, Cloud9 White can set an example to this new Esports from the beginning.
Both Cloud9 White and Cloud9 Blue will be competing against the best VALORANT talent in the world for placements in Riot’s First Strike tournament starting on Oct. 26!
