Destiny 2: Override Activity Guide

Updated:
Destiny 2 Override

Welcome to the new old Gambit! This is a complete guide of a new 6 player activity Override in Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer. Even though it looks much like Gambit there are few steps to cover regarding the activity itself and its rewards.

For example, you will need a Splicer Gauntlet to generate keys to access the rewards in the activity as well as unlock upgrades that will assist you with the completion of the Override.

Splicer gauntlet and key generation

As you boot into the game do complete the seasonal missions straight away. Business as usual: introduction to the story, a bit of shooting, and useful items in the end. Those items are the seasonal artifact and Splicer Gauntlet.

While artifact works as usual granting you power level boost and unlocking mods, the Splicer Gauntlet is a new “Hammer of Proving” from the previous season. You collect Ether from completing the playlist activities (Strikes, Crucible, Gambit) and use it to craft up to 3 keys to use at the end of Override.

To unlock upgrades for this Gauntlet you have to visit the Servitor that is residing in the H.E.L.M, similar to the War Table we had last season it offers bounties, mods, and 3 tiers of upgrades for the Gauntlet.

Heading into override

And now it’s time to head to the Vex. Note, the Override activity is not a public event, it is a separate mission in the H.E.L.M in Destinations tab. Currently, our only destination is Europa with more locations coming really soon.

Override also offers weekly challenge rewards:

  • Complete 3 Override missions (Reward: Powerful Gear Tier 3)
  • Open Conflux 3 Chests with Key Codes in Override missions (Reward: Pinnacle Gear)

Also note: the Recommended power level for the activity is 1300 which could sound a lot. But I didn’t have any troubles going in with power level 1281, besides at least a few Guardians out of this 6 man fireteam know what they are doing. You should be fine.

Splicing the vex network

Once on Europa, you will find yourself near the spire made out of cubes fighting enemies. This is where the first out of 2 parts of the mission take place. The spire has circles that remind the Gambit mote bank. And that is exactly what that is! Kill enemies and deposit motes.

Now and then you will have enemy reinforcements arriving and not allowing you to bank motes, that’s normal. Your job is to kill every single invader and unlock the bank. The process of unlocking is actually quite simple, you will see a bunch of grey nodes, they will turn red in a sequence. And when they turn red, you shoot them.

But if they can invade, why shouldn’t you too? There’s a portal (it looks like a Vex portal, just blue) that will take you straight to the Vex network. There you can find more motes and champions that drop orbs that also have to be deposited.

Invading the retrovawe world

With Splicing done, a big but familiar hole will open in the place of the spire. Jump and enjoy the red and blue Vex world. This stage is jumping and evading lasers until you reach the boss. And when you do kill him and collect your loot.

Throughout the jumping, in the Vex network, you will encounter green confluxes. With an appropriate upgrade on your Splicer Gauntlet, you can activate a cheat code – a safe passage to skip a part you found challenging.

And there you go, a complete guide on Destiny 2 Override! You crushed the Vex network, got some loot. Even though the mechanics are so well known I find Override pretty entertaining and, of course, immensely beautiful.

If you want to learn more about the Season of the Splicer we have a spoiler-free breakdown for you to check out. Other than that, we will have more guides about the new Destiny 2 content incoming so stay tuned, and good luck out there Guardians!
