Developed by popular fighting game studio Capcom, Devil May Cry 5 is actually the sixth installment in the Devil May Cry series. The series follows Dante, the gritty, immature, light-hearted, devil-hunting vigilante and son of Sparda (ironically a Devil himself). The idea of Dante came from Devil May Cry game designer Hideki Kamiya’s vision of a “cool and stylish” man and if Dante is anything, it is most certainly cool and SSStylish. Fans of the series have long-awaited another installment to the Devil May Cry series since the overwhelmingly successful release of DMC 5 in 2019. The game reached 3.7 million sales as of September 2020 as well as winning plenty of awards such as the Japan Game Awards “Award for Excellence”, the 2019 Golden Joystick Award for “Best Visual Design”, and The Game Awards 2019 award for “Best Action Game.”

While fans of the series are eager to get their hands on the upcoming Devil May Cry 6 which unfortunately seems quite a ways away, players don’t have long to wait for more Devil May Cry content as the Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition which features a new playable character, Vergil (Dante’s brother), a new game mode, and a new battle theme, will release for Xbox Series X on November 10 and will release for PS5 only two days later on November 12.
