Dragon Age 4 Setting to be The Tevinter Imperium

I always get giddy about Dragon Age news. Teehee. I mean…heck yeah…*clears throat*. According to Bioware: Secrets and Stories, a book recently released about the history of the developer, the Dragon Age 4 setting will be in the Tevinter Imperium. I read that in my head in Duncan’s voice.

The Dragon Age games have been set in a different place in each game. Dragon Age: Origins was set in Ferelden, Dragon Age II was set in the city of Kirkwall and it’s surroundings, and Dragon Age: Inquisition was set in, well, everywhere else on Thedas really. Dragon Age 4 will be set in a new location, the Tevinter Imperium, along with other locations around the region. The Imperium has been mentioned before in the Dragon Age games but has never been visited.

That gives us some clues as to some story elements. Tevinter is a magocracy, ruled by magisters. That might make one infer that the story would continue to revolve around the conflict between the mages and the templars, with the use of magic itself being a focal point.

DRAGON AGE INQUISITION SPOILER WARNING

Solas, an elf mage from Dragon Age: Inquisition, has already been revealed to be in Dragon Age 4, and he turns out to be a mythically powerful magician called the Dread Wolf in the Trespasser DLC. I’m betting that will be a huge plot point. Maybe he’s the next big bad, or HOPEFULLY he continues to be an ally. Because he’s really, really powerful…
