FaZe Clan Sign Twistzz and Bench Kjaerbye

Updated:

FaZe Clan has announced this Saturday the signing of Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken, with the former Liquid player replacing Markus ‘Kjaerbye’ Kjaerbye in the active roster, effective immediately.

The Canadian player stepped down voluntarily from Team Liquid towards the end of 2020, with the North American squad replacing him at the beginning of this year with the Brazilian veteran Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo.

Since then, the player has moved to Europe and stayed in the sidelines, hoping to find opportunities in the region.

It seems like that opportunity finally came true, as FaZe Clan look to revamp their Counter-Strike team following the transfer of Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač to G2 and the departure of their coach Janko ‘YnK’ Paunović.

Even though FaZe Clan has yet to announce who will take over the role of In-Game Leader for this new line-up, Marcelo ‘Coldzera’ David will likely not continue to reprise it, with multiple reports pointing towards a return of Finn ‘Karrigan’ Andersen in the near future.

With his contract with Mousesports ending in two months and with the German organisation teasing further roster changes in their announcement of Frederik ‘AcoR’ Gyldstrand, the move is highly likely to occur.

Kjaerbye will find himself in the bench of FaZe Clan, with the peak of his six month tenure with the roster being IEM New York 2020 Europe, where the 22 year-old posted a 1.12 HLTV Rating across 11 maps.

It is still unknown if Olof ‘olofmeister’ Kajbjer will be in FaZe Clan’s future, with the player having returned from a long hiatus in 2020 as a stand-in, and with his teammate Coldzera reporting that the two-time Major Winner is pondering to put an end to his career in Counter-Strike.

Nevertheless, FaZe will debut a brand new roster in 12th of February at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021, facing Team Liquid in the opening round, with Twistzz facing former teammates on his first match under the FaZe jersey.
