Second day of Flashpoint 2 has ended and another two matches has finished. Today we saw the winner of Flashpoint 1, MAD Lions taking on a revamped Dignitas squad and group favorite, Fnatic going up against c0ntact. The two winners of the matches will move on to the upper bracket final and face eachother where the winner secures themself a spot in the playoffs, while the loser falls to the lower bracket, in a match which will be played on saturday.
To start the day Dignitas went up against MAD Lions, and the danes in MAD Lions controlled the match in a convincing 2-0 series. The norwegian-swedish roster of Dignitas was not able to keep up with the danish side and after the first half on Overpass they were trailing by 7 rounds. MAD Lions quickly finished up the map with a 16-6 victory.
The second map of the series did not look much better for Dignitas with MAD Lions once again somewhat dominating the first half of Nuke, finishing with a 10-5 lead as they switched from the T-side to the CT-side. The danes didn’t stop performing after they switched sides however and instantly made the score 15-5, after some troubles closing out their own map pick, they eventually finished it with the final score being 16-10.
For the second match of the day Fnatic took on c0ntact and the series started on Mirage, and by looking at the stats before the match started fnatic had only won 2 matches on Mirage in the last three months, so the stats were certainly not in their favor. The swedes however proved the stats wrong and after a tight first half, they trailed by one round. After switching to the T-side they looked far more convincing and only dropped two rounds as they took c0ntact’s map pick with a comfortable 16-10 win.
On train c0ntact had the best start to the map, dominating on the first half of the CT-side, but Fnatic fought their way back into it taking five rounds in a row and ended the half 7-8 in favor of c0ntact. As they moved to the second half Fnatic seemed to continue their 5-round winning streak, as they picked up the pistol round in the second half. After that c0ntact started dominating again and sent the teams to the third map as both teams took eachothers map pick.
On Overpass the first half started with none of the teams taking a massive lead, although Fnatic did get the upperhand as they finished the first half 9-6. In the second half of the game Fnatic took charge, and dominated as they moved to the T-side. They quickly finished the match and set themself up for a rematch against MAD Lions which eliminated them in IEM Beijing-Haidian.
