Cruising along with a bunch of friends in a convoy creates a true spirit of Forza Horizon 5. Unfortunately, the convoys can also be a source of unreal pain when they don’t work as intended. This issue is even more prominent on PC.
The following are several methods proposed by the developers and the community members. But if none of them work for you we recommend contacting Forza support for a personalized solution.
Restart the Xbox App
There is a chance that the PC Xbox app is messing with the game and your friends list. But since you need those apps to play, the best you can do is restart them.
To fix the convoy in Forza Horizon 5 by restarting the Xbox app:
- Close Forza Horizon 5
- Close the Xbox app and make sure it is not minimized in the tray
- Launch Forza Horizon 5 without the Xbox app
- Try inviting/joining your friends
Join the Convoy through the Xbox Game Bar
On PC we recommend using the Game Bar to connect to your friends. It’s very quick and almost always works seamlessly.
To invite/join a convoy through the Xbox Game Bar:
- Press Win+G to open the overlay
- In Xbox Social find the friend you want to invite/join
- Right-click on their name and select “Game” -> “Invite/Join Game”
As soon as you press it, you should have a convoy created automatically with your friend. There is a chance you won’t see each other because you are in different sessions. Simply play an event together and that will get fixed.
Start the Game in Solo Mode
Another solution to the bug of the convoy not working in Forza Horizon 5 is launching the game in solo or offline mode and then creating a convoy.
To invite friends in solo mode:
- Switch the game to solo/offline mode
- You or your friend needs to go online first
- Then the other person goes online
- A message “A friend is online, do you want to join their convoy?” will appear
- Accept it and join the convoy
This method seemed to work only occasionally so it’s not a consistent fix. Still, it’s worth trying just to be on the safe side.
Leave the Horizon Festival Site
If you don’t see your friend when they are in the convoy or if they are stuck on the loading screen an unusual solution is to get to the Festival site and then drive away from it.
To fix the convoy not working in Forza Horizon 5 through the Festival site:
- Invite your friend to the convoy
- Go to the Horizon Festival Mainstage
- Drive away from the Festival site
- Invite the friend again if needed
This will not permanently fix the problem but it’s good enough to play with friends for at least some period of time.
Check Server Connectivity
Although unlikely, Forza Horizon 5 may have connectivity issues that affect the convoy feature as well.
- Go to “Settings” -> “Gaming”
- Head to the “Xbox Networking” tab
- Make sure that the “Connection Status” is all good (if it’s not it means that there is something on Xbox’s end)
- Check if the “Xbox Live multiplayer” is connected and is working properly
The most common issue is the “Teredo is unable to qualify” message next to the NAT type. If you have it, follow the offered guidelines to fix it.
