Both FURIA and EXTREMUM keep their RMR points dream alive by surviving the elimination round of cs_summit 8.
FURIA will now play a rematch against fellow Brazilian squad, O PLANO for second place in group A. EXTREMUM on the other hand will have to face Team Liquid for second place in group B.
FURIA vs. Evil Geniuses
FURIA set up a rematch against O PLANO after their series win over Evil Geniuses. Andrei “arT” Piovezan’s squad were in the driver’s seat during Overpass but faltered in regulation after blowing a ’14-4′ round lead. The map went on to overtime, where FURIA regained control to close out the map ’22-20′. It was a cleaner job for FURIA on Inferno, ending the map ’16-6′ and eliminating EG from the tournament.
EXTREMUM vs. Bad News Bears
EXTREMUM was the better team during their match against Bad News Bears. But it was not without a challenge.
In the first half of the first map, Inferno was as close as it could be at ‘7-8′ in favour of EXTREMUM. Michael “Swisher” Schmid’s side would get as close as ’13-13’ in the second half but crumbled during the final stages of the match. EXTREMUM won the first map despite Swisher topping the scoreboard with 29 kills.
Bad News Bears came back fighting on the second map Nuke, but their strong start was not enough. Swisher had led his side to a huge lead in the first half, at one point being up ’10-1′. But Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand’s squad would gain momentum during the last rounds of the first half, which they carried through to the second half. EXTREMUM would complete a comeback finishing with 5 straight round wins to take the map ’16-12′ and eliminate Bad News Bears from cs_summit 8.
The final matches of the group stage will be FURIA taking on O PLANO, and Team Liquid facing against EXTREMUM, to determine the second and third placers of Group A and Group B.
EG and Bad News Bears are eliminated and walk away with 950 RMR Points each. They’ll need to perform better in upcoming RMR events if they want a spot at the fast-approaching PGL Stockholm Major.
