Genshin Impact: A Complete Yoimiya Guide

Published:
Yomiya Guide

She is the best thing about summer on Narukami Island. Not only because her fireworks make a spectacular show, but because of how much those fireworks mean to everyone in Inazuma. Her name is Yoimiya and this is a complete guide for her.

Yoimiya: Whispers of the Flames

Yoimiya is the new 5-star Pyro Bow user. Before diving into the ways of building her. Let’s briefly break down the key mechanics of hers.

  • Normal Attack: Yoimiya shoots up to 5 consecutive shots dealing Physical damage.
  • Charged Attack: Holding the Attack button fuels the arrow with Pyro damage. But if you hold it a bit longer it will generate up to 3 Kindling Arrows that home onto the enemies.
  • Elemental Skill: Her elemental skill makes Yoimiya’s Normal Attacks deal Pyro damage.
  • Elemental Burst: Elemental Burst deals AOE Pyro damage and marks one enemy with Aurous Blaze. Any hit on the marked enemy by other party members will trigger AOE Pyro explosions. When the enemy is killed, the Aurorus Blaze is passed on to the nearby enemy until it expires

Those are just the key elements of Yoimiya’s gameplay. The complete list of talents, passives, and constellations can be found here.

As Yoimiya is another character from Inzauma, she requires local specialties and items from Inzuma to be ascended. And since we are only a few weeks into the new update you probably don’t have many of those items.

In this case, I time to make a shopping list for leveling up Yoimiya. The news items here are Smoldering Pearl dropped by new Pyro Hypostasis, Transience rolls from Domains (for leveling talents), and Naku Weed which is an Inazuman specialty.

Best Yoimiya Builds

Her skill set is viable for multiple builds but the main two builds that come to mind after playtesting her are Pyro DPS and Burst Support.

Pyro DPS. The focus of this build is to maximize the amount of damage Yoimiya deals with her Normal Attacks. With her Elemental Skill, you will be dealing a constant amount of Pyro damage to opponents. And then when the time comes, unleash Yoimiya’s Burst and leave the field to others.

Burst Support. Even though Yomiya is a DPS in nature, maybe you want her as a support in your team. This build focuses on using the Burst as quickly as possible and leaving the field to other party members.

Which one to pick is only up to you. Play her, the way you want to play as long as it’s fun. Further, we will break down the weapons and artifact sets for each build.

Weapons (Pyro DPS)

A big range of weaponry lays before DPS Yoimiya. If you feel lucky you can aim for a new 5-star weapon, or pick one from the old and reliable guns. Every weapon here is pretty self-explanatory. The goal here is to increase your Normal Attack DMG.

  • Thundering Pulse: Increases ATK by 20% and grants the might of the Thunder Emblem. At stack level 1/2/3, the Thunder Emblem increases Normal Attack DMG by 12/24/40%/ The Character will obtain 1 stack of Thunder Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Skill (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack’s duration is calculated independently.
  • Amos’ Bow: Increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 12%. Normal and Charged Attack DMG increases by 8% every 0.1s for up to 5 times.
  • Skyward Harp: Increases CRIT DMG by 20%. Hits have a 60% chance to inflict a small AoE attack, dealing 125% Physical ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 4s.
  • Rust: Increases Normal Attack DMG by 40% but decreases Aimed Shot DMG by 10%.
  • Hamayumi: Increases Normal Attack DMG by 16% and Charged Attack DMG by 12%. When the equipping character’s Energy reaches 100%, this effect is increased by 100%.

Those are the best weapons for Yomiya. If you are free to play, Hamayumi is definitely your number one pick. It will take a while to obtain, but it’s definitely worth the effort.

Artifacts (Pyro DPS)

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence Artifact Set

For damage dealing there are two main artifact sets – Crimson Witch of Flames and Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. Both of the sets are great and can work in different scenarios. While here we will discuss the 4-piece sets, feel free to mix different 2-piece set that suit your playstyle.

Crimson Witch of Flames: this set is all about Pyro Damage. While 2-piece is good and could be combined with 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale, 4-piece gives a great bonus when creating reactions or using Elemental Skill (which is essential in Yoimiya’s playstyle).

  • 2-piece set: Pyro DMG Bonus +15%
  • 4-piece set: Overload and Butning DMG +40%. Elemental Skill increases 2-piece bonus by 50% for 10 sec. Max 3 stacks

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence: Another valid set of artifacts is the new one – Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. While it doesn’t have a direct Pyro buff it works in a good synergy between Normal Attacks and Elemental Skill. This set works best on its own, you can potentially mix it with Crimson Witch of Flames but the final result may not be as optimal as it could.

  • 2-piece set: ATK +18%.
  • 4-piece set: When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charge/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s.

Do not forget that you only need 4 certain pieces. The fifth one could be from any set as long as it has the right stats. For DPS stats, here’s what you are looking for ATK%/Pyro DMG Bonus%/CRIT DMG or Rate.

The substat focus is the same as for every DPS – CRIT DMG/CRIT Rate. Aim for those and any others that you feel like you are missing. For example, energy recharge or extra ATK.

Weapons (Burst Support)

The Stringless bow in Genshin Impact
The Stringless Bow

There aren’t that many bows for her as a Burst Support to use. The best options would be 4-star bows like The Stringless and Favounius Warbow. The Stringless is good to increase your Burst Damage and Favonius Warbow will help you to get that Burst faster. Too bad you can’t use both at the same time.

  • The Stringless: Increased Elemental Skill And Elemental Burst DMG by 24%.
  • Favonius Warbow: CRIT Hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s.

You definitely have the Faovnius Warbow (unless you scraped it) as it is given for free throughout the Archon Quest. And The Stringless can only be obtained via wishes. The choice mainly depends on how much of Energy Recharge you have and whether you need more of it.

Artifacts (Burst Support)

Noblesse Oblige Artifact Set

The best artifact set for the Support build is the Noblesse Oblige. It is a common set for any support character and it works especially well with Yoimiya’s burst.

Noblesse Oblige: this set is focused on the Elemental Burst of the character. You could combine it with 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale here as well. But the 4-piece gives the damage bonus to other party members that will take Yoimiya’s place on the field after using the Elemental Burst. That, of course, if we are talking about maximum efficiency.

  • 2-pice set: Elemental Burst DMG +20%
  • 4-piece set: After using an Elemental Burst, all teammates get +20% ATK. Lasts 12s, does not stack

Do not forget that you only need 4 certain pieces. The fifth one could be from any set as long as it has the right stats. For Support stats, here’s what you are looking for ATK%/Pyro DMG Bonus%/CRIT DMG or Rate.

The substat focus is the same as for DPS as well – CRIT DMG/CRIT Rate. Those and Energy Recharge as an option.

Light Up the Sky

I hope this guide helped you and you are on your way to make the best Yoimiya there is. If you are only going to roll for her, best of luck to you. May you win a 50/50 or get an early 5-star if it’s a 100. Or heck, why not both?

I shall be on my way with my C2 QiQi, and let’s make the summer in Inzauma even more amusing!
