Genshin Impact: All Cor Lapis Locations and How to Use it

Cor Lapis is a regional specialty of Liyue in Genshin Impact, and it can’t be found anywhere else – here’s where to find and how to use it.

All Cor Lapis Locations in Genshin Impact

Cor Lapis, being a regional specialty resource from Liyue, is located all over the country – and cannot be found anywhere outside of it.

While a few areas have a good density of Cor Lapis, Mt. Hulao is a clear contender for one of the best spots to grab a lot of it quickly.  It has a similar amount in total to many other areas containing Cor Lapis, but it has by far a higher density – the Cor Lapis is much more packed together.

From the teleport beacon of Mt. Hulao, if you turn around towards the waterfall on the cliffside below, you’ll see 4 Cor Lapis immediately a short distance away. Another batch of 4 can be found only a short distance away if you follow the path between the trees nearby.

Mt. Hulao actually makes for an excellent starting point when figuring out a farming path for Cor Lapis, as it’s the easiest area to just grab some quickly regardless of how little time and effort you have to dedicate to mining for it in Genshin Impact.

Other areas of note are the region between Lingju pass and Mt. Tienhang, and the coastal region between Luhua pool and Cuijue Slope, which contain about 25 Cor Lapis spawns between the two of them.

Pointing to a single spot or farming route for Cor Lapis outside of Mt. Hulao is a somewhat difficult process though, as this particular regional specialty seems to be spread thinly across Liyue, and where it is well clustered together usually there is no teleport point close to speed up the farming process.

All in all, if you need more than casually farming Mt. Hulao on reset will provide you, your best bet is to devise a farming route using these areas for a fast burst of around 40 Cor Lapis each reset.

Using a character like Ninguang will speed up locating each individual piece as she can highlight nearby minerals on the minimap for you.

How to Mine Cor Lapis

Cor Lapis is much like other minerals and ores in Genshin Impact. It is not particularly easy to mine without relying on certain methods. It is however still vulnerable to the usual tricks.

The fastest way to break open Cor Lapis rocks is typically using Geo Skills. Zhongli’s hold E pillar will create a single pulse that immediately breaks them open for example, and is a highly recommended method for mining just about anything in Genshin Impact.

As an additional benefit, this pulse is Omnidirectional and has quite a far-reaching effect. It will often break every rock in the immediate area, leaving you to simply collect the contents after the animation completes.

Failing having access to Zhongli – who is a highly sought after character for a variety of reasons, not least being an Archon – You can also make use of just about any other Geo vision character by employing their skills to similar effect.

Longer cooldowns with small areas of effect such as Noelle are not recommended though, as it’ll take quite a while to open multiple Cor Lapis nodes that way. It is worth being aware that Noelle’s Elemental Burst will work pretty well for this while the skill effect lasts, it’s just her elemental skill that holds her back in this regard – given just about everyone should have Noelle from the start of the game, she’s a good baseline to work from, both for that reason, and what we’ll discuss next.

If you don’t have access to a good Geo vision character for this, there are fortunately other ways to mine in Genshin Impact. Some characters’ basic attack skills will actually do significant damage to these rocks.

As shown with our example above, Raiden Shogun is not one of those. As a matter of fact, polearms, in general, are not recommended for this at all. Neither are bows, catalysts, or swords.

No, if you want to break open rocks using basic attacks quickly, the best bet is making use of a claymore character, each attack will do a considerable portion of the health bar and speed up the process massively – your claymore characters damage doesn’t actually matter here, just a few hits from any claymore will break open the rock all the same. This combined with the huge reach of Noelle’s burst makes her an excellent budget option for your mining needs.

And while I did say that Catalysts should be avoided, there is one exception to that rule.

Magic may not be good at mining, but explosives sure are, and with Klee packing plenty of explosions, her auto attacks effectively function as a claymore against rocks, breaking them open far faster than most characters are capable of.

How to Use Cor Lapis in Genshin Impact

Cor Lapis has a variety of uses in Genshin Impact, it’s used as a character ascension material for Chongyun, Keqing and Zhongli, as well as being a component part of 6 different crafting recipes.

The more important use here is as an ascension material, as that means those characters will explicitly require Cor Lapis to increase their maximum level cap.

While Chongyun and Keqing are mostly limited to people playing them because they like the characters or they’re simply the best option the player has access to at the moment, Zhongli is well known for being the one half of the Genshin Impact meta coin for the last year or so – the other face of the coin, of course, is Kaedehara Kazuha.

Genshin may slowly be moving away from Zhongli being both a god canonically and in the meta, but he is hugely useful for virtually all of the surface world content and plenty of the story content so far due to his incredibly powerful shield ability – which only a few enemies have a viable counter to, all of which were recently introduced.

And that’s not to mention that even in this very guide we’ve covered that Zhongli is a useful tool for mining resources.

Both of these together mean that players looking for an easier Genshin Impact experience will want Zhongli, and playing him will require you to stock up on Cor Lapis.

It will take you 168 Cor Lapis in total to take Zhongli from level 1 all the way up to level 90, and while he is extremely worthwhile, that means you’ll have to farm a hell of a lot of this rare regional resource, given that each rock spawn can only ever drop precisely 1 Cor Lapis.

Crafting Recipes That Use Cor Lapis

As for the crafting Recipes that consume Cor Lapis, it can be used to make all of the following items:

  • Dustproof Potion
  • Unmoving Essential oil
  • Yellow Dye
  • Special Unmoving Essential oil
  • Geoculus Resonance Stone
  • Geo Treasure Compass

The Dustproof potion, Unmoving Essential and Special Unmoving Essential oils are all fairly optional items. You might find some use for them if you struggle with a specific part of the game, but generally, potions can be ignored entirely in Genshin Impact – I’ve reached AR57 and have yet to need one, as an example.

Yellow Dye is useful for your Serenitea pot home realm and decoration options, but it can be made cheaper using different items, which you should do instead as the other option will be easier to farm in mass.

This leaves the Geo Treasure Compass and Geoculus Resonance stone. Of these, you will almost certainly want to craft the Geo Treasure compass, as it helps locate missing chests in Liyue when you can’t manage to find them in the wild yourself anymore.

The Geoculus Resonance stones are more of a mixed bag – you’ll never need them if you can find all the Geoculus yourself, but finding them all yourself in an area as big as Liyue can be an absolutely gargantuan struggle. At a cost of 5 Cor Lapis a pop, these things are quite expensive, but it’s hard to deny they’re also extremely useful.

All in all, Cor Lapis has a few very specific uses, but those uses are typically incredibly powerful, so it’s worth trying to collect this Liyue Regional specialty whenever you get the opportunity in Genshin Impact.
