Genshin Impact: How to Process Ingredients and What They Can Make

Published:

Genshin Impact has many core mechanics and components within the game. Cooking, for example, is definitely one of them. At the beginning of the game, players will get a quest to process 3 ingredients. This manifests that processing ingredients is an important component of the game. If players aren’t too sure how to process ingredients, let’s see how to process ingredients and what they can do.

How to process ingredients in Genshin Impact

As mentioned before, players will gather ingredients throughout the wild. These ingredients can be processed into other ingredients that can be specifically applied for certain recipes. So to get started, players can approach a cooking station next to a restaurant or any fire pit in the wild. Below is an example of the cooking station next to the restaurant in Mondstadt.

Cooking Station in Mondstadt

After approaching the cooking station, players will be brought to the cook/all screen and will be able to see all the recipes that they can make. From this screen, there will be a list of icons that show which recipes can be made or not, depending if you have the ingredients on hand.

As shown in the example photo below, players can click on either the pepper icon at the top of the screen, or the arrow on the right side of the screen in order to advance to the processing screen.

After clicking one of the two icons, the processing screen will now be brought up. Below is a small guide throughout the processing tab so players will know how to work around and understand a bit more of processing ingredients.

Yellow Box: This indicates that you are on the right screen to process ingredients into other specific ingredients for specific recipes.

White Box: The list of processed ingredient recipes that can be made. Some of these processed ingredients can be made, depending on if there are enough ingredients within the players inventory.

Black Box: These stars are indicate the rarity of the ingredient. Gray being 1 star, green being 2 stars, blue being 3 stars.

Blue Box: This is the number of ingredients required to make the processed ingredients. For example, it requires 1 wheat to make 1 flour. The number on the left is the quantity in the inventory.

Red Box: Required amount of time in order for processing to be completed.

Green Box: When ingredients are done processing, players can obtain the processed ingredients here. The more that are processed at a time, the more are completed.

Pink Box: Clicking the cook will begin the processing after deciding how much the ingredients the player wants to process.

Purple Box: While cooking, there is a queue for how many ingredients are being processed. There is only a limit to 99 so if players are processing 2 wheat at once, it will show: 2/99 on the cooking queue.

Orange Box: This is the information and details about the processed ingredients.

Light Blue Box: “Qty” is short for quantity. This is the quantity in the inventory over 2000. Meaning there is an inventory capacity of how much food can be carried.

When processing ingredients, for example, 4 flour, clicking on the “cook” will have players waiting the required time (in this instance, 4 minutes) before it is completed. Then they can click “obtain” after 1 or more are completed. In addition, players can leave and continue their adventure while the food is processing. Players can return to any cooking station to obtain their ingredients.

Players can also purchase some but not all of the ingredients at restaurants and general goods stores. This can save time and effort if players need to cook recipes or process ingredients. Check out where to buy some meat and other ingredients here.

Chilled meat

As shown form the table above, chilled meat is an ingredient that is a bit extraordinary. Chilled meat can be obtained by killing Snowboars within Dragonspire. However, there is another variant of this ingredient due to the quest: “Only-Half Frozen”. Players can begin this quest by talking to Tommy, who is located at the border of Dragonspire in Mondstadt.
