Guilty Gear Strive Bridget Super 1

Arc System Works has recently introduced the first character for the Season 2 content in Guilty Gear: Strive. The developers are starting off with a returning fan favorite, Bridget. Who is still armed with her yoyos and sentient teddy bear. Here’s our guide on Guilty Gear Strive’s Bridget featuring tips, combos, and moves.

Who Is Bridget?

In the Guilty Gear story, Bridget is another bounty hunter who is not directly related to the main events of the game. Her goal in the story was to prove her manliness by taking down bounty targets reliably.

Her role in her appearance for Guilty Gear Strive’s story is not yet known as she did not appear in the Story Mode. As she possesses no magic or superhuman genetics in her body, her fighting style revolves around the skillful use of her yoyo and her sentient teddy bear, Roger, to defeat her foes.

As a playable character in a fighting game, the developers confirmed that she will be a beginner-friendly character armed with tools to deal with offense and defense in any situation in matches.

Bridget’s move list in Guilty Gear Strive is also streamlined for a simpler experience compared to her previous appearance. Her Guilty Gear Strive move list focuses on playing neutral, setplay, and space control.

Here are her special moves and supers in Guilty Gear Strive:

  • Starship – 623P
  • Stop and Dash
    • 236S/236HS for the straightforward fireball version
    • 214S/214HS for the delayed set play fireball version
    • Both versions are also available in mid-air
  • Rolling Movement – When a Stop and Dash yoyo is on-screen, 214K
  • Kick Start My Heart(KSMH) – 236K (Hold Backward to slow down and Forward to speed up)
    • Brake – During KSMH, P
    • Shoot – During KSMH, K
  • Roger Dive – In mid-air, 236K
  • Rock The Baby (Command Throw) – 63214P, also available in air and can be held
  • Loop The Loop (Overdrive Super, 50 meters needed) – 632146S
  • Return of the Killing Machine(Overdrive Super, 50 meters needed) – 632146H, available in the air

Generally, Bridget has strong options for attacking up close and far. Winning situations and knocking the opponent down also grants Bridget strong okizeme pressure that prevents foes from immediately running a comeback. However, her damage potential is low and may need more confirms than most.

Bridget Beginner Tips

Enjoy Bridget’s far-reaching Slash and Heavy Slash ranges. Play around with it.

True to the developer’s design, Bridget is truly a beginner-friendly character as she has strong options in winning neutral without spending resources or risking herself too much.

  • Her midscreen to fullscreen options requires her to poke her opponents with her far-reaching Slash and Heavy Slash buttons. Successfully landing a hit with her pokes can lead to a small combo that pushes her opponents toward the corner.
  • Scoring a counter hit with her pokes can lead to greater reward as she can go for another low-damage combo route but can set up the delayed Stop and Dash fireball to start a deadlier mixup afterward. Bridget can keep her opponents at bay with her pokes, anti-airs, and Stop and Dash fireballs.

Bridget is no slouch up-close as she has decent Punch and Kick buttons to win close-range scraps. Crouching Kick is her fastest option and can interrupt block strings with large gaps. She has access to a meterless reversal with Starship and has Guilty Gear Strive’s reversal throw to help her escape pressure cleanly.

If players want to lay down the hurt, Bridget will need a good close-ranged counter hit or a red Roman Cancel to push for more damage. Players will need to get used to her low damage in combos.

Getting enough meter is not a problem for Bridget though as she does have great meter gain if she forces her opponents to get hit or keep blocking her pokes.

Bridget Beginner Combos

Beginner Bridget players may easily find out that she does have follow-ups on landing her far Slash and far Heavy Slash when just mashing buttons. The follow-ups can act like a basic auto combo where simple button mashing will lead to a decent knockdown that can be enough to run some pressure with little advantage.

Beginners must move into better combos if they want to make the best out of Bridget’s kit. Here are a few easy combos that players can use to make the best out of their hits:

  • 5P>5P>6K>236K>K
  • 2K>2D>214S>214K
  • far S>HS>HS>214S
  • In corner, close Slash>2HS>236HS>2HS>214K>close Slash>6HS>full-charged Dust

These combos are easy to use and can get underwhelming against better players. However, these combos are enough for a basic go-to play with a simple game plan. Lastly, it will be best to break the wall as much as possible to keep running a safe offense and extend combos with Roman Cancels.

These tips and combos will be enough to get started and help you learn Bridget and the Guilty Gear Strive matchups. Learn your opponent’s habits and adjust to your plan to punish their openings with those patterns.
