As the seventh game in the franchise, Guilty Gear Strive has reached 300,000 sales in just a week. For a lot of you this might not seem like much but when compared to previous titles in the franchise and other titles inside the fighting games category it seems as though this might become their most successful game yet.
Guilty Gear’s first debut was back in 1998 on the original Playstation. Since then the franchise has grown into a series with a large fanbase and impressive amounts of lore. But never yet has one of their releases reached this amount of sales only in the first week after launch.
According to SteamDB Guilty Gear Strive has reached 31,000 concurrent players, beating Tekken 7 and Street Fighter 5. Currently Dragon Ball FighterZ holds the record for most concurrent players in a fighting game at 44,303.
As the seventh title of the franchise with eight updated versions of the previous games Guilty Gear Strive already comes out on top getting more sales within the first week after launch than any of the six other games. It is highly possible for Guilty Gear Strive to obtain the record of most sold title of the franchise. According to players the game definitely deserves this success for being a truly amazing fighting game.
