How to Change Your Apex Legends Name on Steam
Starting off with PC players on Steam. If you are playing directly through Steam (you didn’t install Origin) then you will have it as easy as any other Steam game. All you have to do is edit your Steam profile name to whatever you like and you are set.
To change your Steam profile name:
- Open Steam
- Click on your username in the top right corner
- Open the “View my profile” menu
- Click the “Edit Profile” button below your steam level
- On the “General” tab of settings, the first line will be “Profile Name”
- Edit it however you like and scroll down to press “Save”

How to Change Your Apex Legends Name on Origin
Another platform to play Apex Legends on PC is Origin. It’s a dedicated platform for games from Electronic Arts and changing your name there is just as easy. The downside is that unlike Steam you ought to have a unique username. In Origin your username is your EA ID and it is what you need to change your name in Apex Legends.
To change your EA ID:
- Open Origin
- Click on your profile picture/username in the bottom left
- Click “Edit on EA.com“
- You will be redirected to your EA account settings page and in the “About Me” tab you can edit the basic information about your account including the username/EA ID.
Once you edit and save the new information all of your Origin games should show you under a new name although it can take some time for it to update everywhere. So don’t panic if you see your old name in some places.
How to Change Your Apex Legends Name on PlayStation
On PlayStation, you have to change your PlayStation Network (PSN) ID. The first name change is free but the following ones will come at a charge. The regular price for a PSN name change is $9.99. If you are a PSN subscriber, you’ll pay $4.99 instead.
You can change your PSN ID either from the Account Management page or in the console settings. You can open the Account Management page on any browser on your mobile or computer as long as you are signed in to the PlayStation Network on the console.
To change your PSN ID in your browser:
- Open the Sony Account Management page and log in with your details
- Head to the “Profile” tab on the left
- Chang your name in “Online ID”

How to Change Your Apex Legends Name on Xbox
On Xbox, you need to change your Xbox Gamertag. Just like with PlayStation you can do this via the browser or on the console itself. And just like with PlayStation the first name change is free with the following ones incurring a charge of $9.99 with no special offers for Xbox Game Pass owners.
- Open the Xbox Change Gamertag page and log in with your details
- Enter your new Gamertag and it will show you if it’s available
- Once you choose your Gamertag follow the instructions to complete the change (and pay if necessary)

To change your Xbox Gamertag on Xbox One:
- Open settings menu
- Click on the “Profile” option

- Open the console’s guide panel by pressing the Xbox button on your controller

How to Change Your Apex Legends Name on Nintendo Switch
Apex Legends is also available on Nintendo Switch. If you are a Switch user there’s quite a simple process of your name change. The new name will be linked to one profile and one profile alone. To change your name in Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch you have to change your profile’s nickname. Nintendo Switch also allows you to pick whichever username you’d like.
To change your nickname on Nintendo Switch:
- Open “System Settings” from the main menu
- Scroll down to the “User” tab
- Here you can choose a profile to change the name for
- In the profile settings, edit the first option called “Nickname”
