Learning how to force tame in ARK: Survival Evolved is extremely useful, especially because of how challenging the taming process can be.

However, there is a somewhat controversial method that allows you to drastically reduce the grueling process. That would be the “ForceTame” command, and it lets you tame dinos instantly.

This is obviously considered cheating. But, we’re not here to judge, and we understand the struggle that surrounds taming some of the stronger creatures in ARK.

How to Force Tame in ARK

The entire process of force taming can be started by opening up the game’s cheat menu.

Depending on which platform you’re on, pressing the buttons shown above will open up the cheat menu where you can insert various console commands.

  • PC – Tab
  • PlayStation – L1 + R1 + Square + Triangle in the Pause Screen Menu
  • Xbox – LB + RB + X + Y in the Pause Screen Menu

In order to force tame a creature, you need to get close to it and look at it until its name tag appears. Once you’ve done that, open the console and enter the command “forcetame”.

This will instantly tame the dino that your crosshairs were on, and you’ll even be able to ride it without a saddle. In order to remove this special saddle exception, you need to put the force-tamed dino into a cryopod.

How to Force Tame Multiple Creatures in ARK

Not only can you force tame one dino at a time, but there is a method that allows you to force tame all dinos in a given radius.

You’ll need to open up the console and type in “forcetameaoe <radius>”. We recommend setting the radius to either 2000 or 4000.

Being able to force tame multiple creatures in such a swift manner is great for many occasions and purposes. Among other things, a command like this is practical for quick breeding, as you can instantly tame multiple creatures and then breed them.

Using Console Commands in ARK

There are a lot of console commands that can redefine the pace of the entire game. They range from commands that can add XP, to those that mercilessly kill any living creatures on the map.

Although it’s technically considered cheating, using console commands largely falls down to personal preference. And unless you’re a server admin or owner, you can’t use console commands in multiplayer servers.

Don’t feel bad for using console commands in your own ARK: Survival Evolved single-player world. Remember that the entire point of gaming is to have fun, so mold your worlds as you like.
