If you want to consistently get off Fortuna III every time you go there, you need reliable equipment. Your Common Assault Rifles and Shields won’t do anymore. It’s time to upgrade. In this guide, we will tell you how to get better armor in The Cycle: Frontier.
Craft Armor at the Gear Printer
You can’t simply buy a higher rarity armor piece. They aren’t available at the Quick Shop or at any of the faction shops. The only way to get better armor is to craft it at the Gear Printer.
Gear Printer is a glowing orange station on the right of the launch terminal on the station. Head there and you will see all the armor available for crafting in the “Armor” tab.
At the Gear Printer you can craft any armor piece of any rarity:
- Helmet (Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Exotic)
- Restoration Helmet (Uncommon, Rare)
- Restoration Shield (Uncommon, Rare)
- Shield (Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Exotic)
- Tactical Helmet (Uncommon, Rare)
- Tactical Shield (Uncommon, Rare)
- NV Helmet (Legendary)
But each will require you to have not only a generous amount of K-Marks but also certain materials that you need to find on Fortuna III. The rarer the gear, the rarer the resources required to craft it. Some you may have to craft at the same Gear Printer in the “Materials” tab
Crafting also takes time. The time depends on the rarity of the item as well. For example, the only Legendary armor piece in The Cycle: Frontier, the NV Helmet, takes 10 hours to craft.
Obviously crafting the best armor there is sounds like a good idea. But take into consideration your chances of dying. If you are not great in gunfights, maybe spending all your resources on one Exotic Shield isn’t the best idea.
Jobs and Fortuna Pass
There are a few more ways to get extra armor of a better quality. Fortuna Pass has multiple free tiers with worker crates. Each crate has a few Uncommon pieces of armor and a bit of extra equipment to boot. Rewards aren’t given out automatically. So make sure to go to the Fortuna Pass menu and collect them.
Some campaign jobs also have decent armor as a reward. Some are listed as a final reward for the campaign job, others are awarded for completing a step in the campaign. It’s not enough to supply multiple trips to Fortuna III but it’s a good start. And completing campaign jobs is a good source of FP and K-Marks anyway.
