How to Get Log Sled in Sons of the Forest

Updated:

In The Forest, there was a log sled which was basically a truck for your logs. Unfortunately, there is no log sled in Sons of the Forest that you can use in the same way. There is a sled that you can craft at the 3D printer but you can use it only for your own transportation.

Although it may sound disappointing since it used to save a lot of time when building, we now have a decent replacement: Kelvin. You can now ask Kelvin to collect logs and bring them to you.

How to Use Kelvin to Get Logs

You will first find Kelvin at a crash site laying down in a seizure. Help him out and he will become your first companion in Sons of the Forest, and companions are much better than a log sled. By default, Kelvin will simply follow you around until you give him something to do.

It can be gathering resources, food, clearing the area, or even building a shelter. All that becomes very handy in the early stages of the game when you need to create a safe space as soon as possible.

Since Kelvin became deaf after the crash, you can ask him to do things using a notebook. To ask Kelvin to start bringing you wood logs:

  1. Come up and interact with him by holding “E”
  2. In the notebook, using WASD keys, select “get” + “logs” + “and drop here”
  3. Press “D” to give the command
  4. Wait for Kelvin to bring the logs

The important thing is for you to stand in the place where you want the logs to be. Alternatively, you can use the “get logs and give to me” command but we wouldn’t recommend it since you don’t want them to end up scattered around.

Kelvin will work on the task for some time and bring around 20 logs. After he will come up to see if you have anything else for him to do. We recommend giving Kelvin a break after work. It will keep him happy and productive for future jobs.
