Step 1: Find the Carpenter Robin

You’ll need the Carpenter’s help if you want to move a building on your farm. This means you have to find Robin, the only Carpenter in Pelican Town. 

1. Robin can be found in the Carpenter’s shop in Pelican Town. The Carpenter Shop is on a mountain where Robin and her husband live. They live with their children, Maru and Sebastian. Search for the shop/home on the Mountain map, north of Pelican Town. The shop is below Linus’ camp and near the Spa.
2. The shop is open on most days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in-game time. Most days are key here: there are times when the shop will be closed. You might have to time this correctly in order to meet with Robin. The shop tends to be closed on Tuesdays and closes an hour early on Fridays. 
3. You may not find Robin in her Carpenter shop if she’s already constructing a building on your farm. This means she’s occupied, and you won’t be able to get her to help you move a previously established building. 

Step 2: Ask Robin to Help you Move Buildings

Robin will help you move your buildings for free if she’s in her shop and available. Here’s how to ask her to do it: 

1. Walk up to the wooden counter and start a dialogue with Robin. She’ll ask you, “What can I do for you?” after which you get a pop-up menu to select from. This is the part that most players find confusing since there doesn’t seem to be an option for Move Buildings. 
2. You’ll have to select Construct Farm Buildings (even though you don’t want to construct a new building) and then look for five pop-up options on the bottom right of the screen.
3. The second out of five icons is the ‘Move Buildings’ option. You’ll see it once you hover the mouse over this option. The icon has four arrows pointing to each corner; refer to the image attached above if you cannot find it. 
4. Click on this option. The game now presents an overview of your farm and all the constructed buildings. 

Step 3: Move Your Building

Now that you have an overview of your farm, it’s easy enough to relocate any previously constructed buildings. 

1. Click on the building that you wish to move. 
2. The building should convert into a grid of green squares that indicate how much space it takes up. You can now shift it to any other spot on your farm as long as it fits. If the green squares turn to red, it can mean that there isn’t enough space in the area you’re trying to shift it to or that there’s something in the way. 
3. Farm animals can obstruct your way when trying to move a building to a new spot. You can easily solve this problem by getting all your farm animals inside their respective barns and coops before you travel to the Carpenter Shop. 
4. Now you should have successfully moved your building. 

Moving buildings don’t cost anything extra, and Robin will do this interaction for you as long as she’s not busy constructing another building on your farm already. Another great thing is that moving buildings happens automatically, so you don’t have to wait for multiple in-game days to go by.
