In Across the Obelisk, you want to perform at your maximum to progress and be the best you can be. You’ve got your build and you’ve got your items, but it’s not quite enough. In fact, what you need is a pet to round off your build and take it from good to great. This guide will you how to unlock pets in Across the Obelisk.
Where Can You Find Pets
When you’re unlocking pets, often you are completing various missions in each act. Similar to unlocking new characters, you will be tasked with going from point A to point B, defeating mini-bosses, or sometimes even just completing dialogue with the quest giver.
In contrast, some pets will require additional steps or multiple check-in points, which really dictate the direction that the rest of your run takes. With that in mind, you can refer to the chart below for where to find out how to unlock each pet in Across the Obelisk.

Why Should You Use a Pet
In general, while building your character, pets are often overlooked in importance. As a matter of fact, some pets can be insane on certain characters and builds in Across the Obelisk once you unlock them. For example the pet Oculy on Nezglekt, Sylvie, or Gustav.
Oculy uses the Clairvoyance card, which applies two sight and two insanity on each enemy as well as dealing some mind damage. With this in mind, it’s important to note that statuses applied and damage dealt by pets increase with their owner’s bonuses to those statuses or damage types.
Do I Keep My Pets Permanently After a Run?
Once you’ve unlocked a pet, you own them for life. In order to equip a pet in a new Across the Obelisk run, you simply purchase them at the shop after unlocking the second supply perk under Global.
Additionally, you can upgrade your pet to be stronger mid-run if you see a node named “The Monster Trainer”, “The Unlucky Trainer” or “The Soldier Trainer”.
