How To Use USB Headset on Xbox One?

You may consider using a headset to get the most out of your Xbox One gaming experience. If you’re lucky enough to have a headset with a USB connection, connecting it will be much more straightforward than having an old-school 3.5 MM headset. Today, we’ll show you how to do that using a step-by-step guide.

Guide On How To USB Headset on Xbox One

If you want to use a headset with your Xbox One, you must have one specifically designed for use with the console. The reason is that Xbox One uses specially made chips that allow only specific USB devices to communicate with it. So if you have an ordinary PC USB headset, this guide is not for you. This, however, does not apply to wireless USB dongles used for Xbox One headphones.

Here are the steps to follow so that you can connect a supported wireless headset to your Xbox One console:

  1. Plug in the USB dongle of your headset into the console
  2. Press and release the connect button located on the side of your Xbox One console while the console is on

  1. Hold the pairing button on your headset for a few seconds, which depending on it, is usually the power button
  2. Once your Xbox One and your USB headset get paired, you’ll get a “headset assigned” message displayed on your screen.

How to Use an Unsupported Headset?

In case your headset is incompatible with Xbox One, there’s still an alternative approach to connect it. You can simply get an Xbox One Stereo Adapter, a small but quite useful gadget. This adapter allows you to connect your headset with the 3.5 mm cable by connecting it to a wireless controller.

On top of that, this adapter supports a few additional buttons, which allow you to adjust the volume, mute the microphone, and more. Unfortunately, Xbox One does not support Bluetooth headsets, but as an alternative, you can connect your Bluetooth headset to a smart TV or use the 3.5mm to Bluetooth audio transmitter instead.
