The new event of Intel Extreme Master Season 16 is only 4 days away. On June 3rd IEM Summer 2021 will kick off and last until June 13th. With qualifiers finished back in April, 16 teams will compete for the prize pool of $250,000, Intel Grand Slam contribution, and 4300 ESL Pro Tour points.
The first week of the event (June 3rd to 6th) will be a group stage. The teams are split into 2 groups of 8 and will battle in a double-elimination format. Top 3 of each group advance to the Playoffs. For the group stage, Opening Matches are Bo1 and all other Matches are Bo3.

The second week (June 11th to 13th) is the time for Playoffs. 6 teams will be competing in a single-elimination bracket, which is pretty unusual for any playoffs. The Quarter and Semi-Finals will be Bo3 and Grand Finals Bo5.
When the dust is settled, the prize pool and points will be split accordingly:
- 1st – 1000 points, $100,000
- 2nd – 750 points, $42,000
- 3rd-4th – 525 points, $20,000
- 5th-6th – 350 points, $10,000
- 7th-8th – 200 points, $6,000
- 9th-12th – 100 points, $5,000
- 13th-16th – 0 points, $4,000
The points earned will not go contribute to the qualification of IEM Cologne 2021 or the Play-In stages. That’s all we have about IEM Summer 2021, you can catch all the action on ESL’s Twitch.
