Ping is something you gotta keep your eye on if you don’t trust your internet or if you are experiencing lag. Especially in multiplayer games. This guide will tell you everything about how to show ping in League of Legends.
Why Monitor Ping?
As already mentioned, there are various reasons for monitoring your ping. Some of them could be:
- Testing new internet provider
- Trying to locate the source of lag
- Because you are paranoid
In case you need to check your ping I highly recommend doing it via Speedtest by Ookla as well. It will give you good insight and data for whatever it is you are doing.
How to Show Ping?
The ping is seen on the screen by default in the top right corner with FPS. You may have accidentally hid them by pressing CTRL+F, try to press this key again to bring ping back. If that didn’t work, it means that the keybind is off.
To fix that, you will have to navigate to the keybinds section of the settings (you can do it via client or during the game) and change the “Toggle FPS Display” bind to anything that suits you.
Tips to Lower Your Ping
If you are suffering from high ping, here are a few basic tips to lower it. Although, most likely you will have to contact your internet provider and sort this with them.
Tips to lower ping:
- Make sure you are playing on the right server. Playing on NA servers from Europe is painful and will cause massive ping increase
- Use Ethernet if possible. Ethernet is way faster and more stable than Wi-Fi. I wouldn’t recommend playing any PvP games via Wi-Fi at all.
- Check Riot Server Status in case there are issues with the game itself, sometimes the problem could be on their end.
- Shut down unnecessary apps. Maybe Steam is trying to download a 50GB update for Siege. That hits like a truck.
