Well, all you League of Legends fans are finally getting your wish. Riot has officially confirmed that they are working on a League of Legends MMO after years of fans asking for it!

Greg Street, VP of IP and Entertainment at Riot Games, tweeted out that Riot is in development of a “big game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create.”

He hints at a League of Legends MMO as he says “some might say massive” referring to Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO). While it was only speculation that this was Riot’s way of saying they are finally making a League of Legends MMO, it only took a couple of minutes for Greg to reply to a fan’s tweet asking “tell me now…IS IT AN MMO?”

This confirmed that Riot Games is, in fact, working on a League of Legends MMO. While it is currently unknown what stage of the development process it is currently in, I can’t imagine it’s too far at all. I’m sure Riot is just as eager to reveal information as players are eager to receive it, but announcements will have to wait until they actually have information to announce.

This move isn’t all too surprising given the recent League of Legends spinoff, Teamfight Tactics, which was very well received, I’m sure we’ll see even more League spinoff games later down the road as Riot finds new ways to spark interest and new audiences to engage.

Who knows, maybe we’ll get a League of Legends shooter or RPG in the future! Okay, the shooter was a joke, but now that I think about it I could get behind a League of Legends RPG.
