League Season 2020 Teaser and Riot’s Plans

Updated:
League Season 2020

At the end of 2019, Riot Games announced several games and other media a decade after they released League of Legends. Riot said they will be more transparent with future plans going forward for League Season 2020. They recently released a teaser telling us their plans for the upcoming year.

This trailer didn’t give details on anything but teased everything they plan on announcing, releasing, and previewing in 2020.

Game Modes and Skin Lines

Events have been around for a while. They are based on quests and special limited-time loot. Game modes have been off and on in League; originally, they came around rarely and were fairly limited. Some old game modes include URF, All for One, Doom Bots, and Mirror Mode. More recently, Riot had weekly rotating game modes with even more intense modes that received special maps and themes like Dark Star and Star Guardian. This was eventually put on the shelf. Riot has expressed a desire to bring back game modes, and how exactly they’ll be doing this should be announced soon.

Riot will also share new skin themes and lines. Perhaps we will see more game modes based around them.

New and Old Champions

There was also an image of the reworked Volibear in the video. Riot plans on sharing more details on champion reworks and new champions soon. An earlier post by Riot in 2019 showed Fiddlestick animation and rework plans, so he should be the next champion to be fully reworked. For new champions, all the information released belongs to the three newest champions, Senna, Aphelios, and Sett, so we currently know nothing about any upcoming champions.

TFT and Clash

Riot has finally announced that they will be launching Clash and will be sharing more details on this later. Hopefully, it works out this time.

It was also mentioned that there will be a sneak peek of the TFT set. Any information on when the set will change and what it will be is currently unavailable.

Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra will be getting an update in time for the closed beta starting sometime in the first quarter of this year. More details on the patch are coming up soon. Based on the LoR timeline, the beta will be running up until the game’s release later in the year, unlike the preview patches that only lasted a few days. However, it is still a closed beta and only selected people will be able to play. You can get a chance to play in the beta by pre-registering for the game.

A New Table-Top Game

An announcement for a new table-top game was made. There are no details yet, but more information will be made available sometime this year.

On the PBE

In more recent news: Wukong is getting a slight rework and it is currently on the PBE. The major changes include his passive. It is being changed to a physical shield that activates when exiting brush or stealth. Also, Wukong’s W is now a dash that leaves a stationary clone that can attack.

The Start of League Season 2020

Riot also released a beautiful cinematic trailer for Season 2020.
