Lemnis Gate is arriving in less than a month, but there is still a lot to reveal before its release. A post from the Lemnis Gate website has detailed how player progression works in the game. The progression mainly focuses on unlocking customizations for your Operatives.
Levelling up
Like with many other games, players gain experience by completing games, whether they win or lose. Obviously, winning will result in more experience gained. Damaging and killing enemy Operatives will also grant additional experience.
Every time you level up, you will earn HEX Coins, which are used to activate new customizations, such as Operative and weapon skins.
In addition to player experience, you also gain Operative Mastery experience. Each Operative gains its own amount of progression, and you can only earn experience for that Operative if you use him/her during the match.
XP you have earned is never lost. Even if your Operative gets killed in a later round the XP you earned during their round is banked. At the end of a match the XP are added to your Player Level as well as to the relevant Operative Masteries, and once a certain amount of XP are reached, you level up and are granted a HEX Coin to spend in a HEX Grid.

Unlocking higher mastery for each Operative grants further unlocks.
Hex grids
Each Operative has their own HEX grid, which is essentially a screen that shows what Operative you want to unlock customizations for. This is where you spend HEX coins to get these unlocks.
Each HEX grid shows cosmetic unlocks such as Operative suits, weapon skins, emotes, and player emblems.
Weapon Skins
In addition to changing a weapon’s appearance, weapons can even be customized to adjust the weapon’s stats ever so slightly. This seems to be the only element of player progression that isn’t cosmetic only, as it does impact gameplay.
However, based on the wording of the post, these changes are minor and doesn’t actually buff the weapons, but rather provides alternative stats to the weapon that better fits the player’s playstyle.
Overall, all player progression is largely tied to is unlocking cosmetics in Lemnis Gate, and has little to no bearing on the gameplay itself. It’s also nice to see that cosmetics are unlocked by playing the game instead of through microtransactions.
Lemnis Gate releases on September 28 after being delayed from an August 3 release date. If you pre-purchase the game before the release date, you will receive a 20% discount.
