LoL SoloQueue Tier List – Top Lane: MoonStaff is Everywhere!

Updated:

If you’re looking to climb the ladder in Season 11, then you’ve come to the right place! Here is our LoL Top Lane Tier List!

New to League of Legends? Or, maybe you want to get better… This top-lane tier list will help you understand which champions are stronger in this meta!

Without further ado, let’s jump into the champion list!

Top Lane Tier List: S-Tier

  • Pantheon
  • Lulu
  • Wukong
  • Malphite
  • Shen
  • Darius
  • Garen

The recent rise of the MoonStaff build in the support role has had a big impact on the meta. The champions which best utilizes the build have slowly been ramping up in pick rate across other roles as well. Top lane is no exception.

Enchanters like Lulu & Karma have become all of a sudden popular picks. They have relatively safe laning phases due to the range advantage over most top lane champions, as well as disrupting abilities that prevent any type of hard-engage/dive. Out of all these supportive champions, Lulu is the better pick. Abuse her as much as possible, since it looks like she won’t be receiving nerfs in the 11.3 patch.

These champions aside, the strongest top laners are tanks or bruisers with a lot of crowd control in their kits. Shen, Wukong & Malphite are just a few. Pantheon is the sole exception since he has the ability to roam around the map with his ultimate.

The rise of these champions has made their common counter equally powerful. Darius destroys all the aforementioned picks, so go for him if you have the counter pick available.

A-Tier

  • Camille
  • Ornn
  • Urgot
  • Jax
  • Maokai
  • Volibear
  • Renekton
  • Gnar

These champions on the list are still relatively strong and you won’t see them banned as often. Learning & mastering one of these champions is extremely useful since it will be your go-to pick whenever the S-tier champions are banned.

Camille is kind of in between the A-tier & S-tier. She is very strong but needs some time to ramp up & scale. Not only that, she’s mechanically hard to play compared to other champions like Volibear or Renekton for example.

One champion worth mentioning is Gnar. He’s been the talk of the past few weeks, especially in pro-play. Contrary to what many might think, he’s actually really strong if you can abuse the range advantage in the laning phase. Pick him in certain matchups, although he’s also blind-pickable. Just make sure to not fall behind: otherwise, you will feel like you have zero impact on the game.

B-Tier

  • Akali
  • Aatrox
  • Illaoi
  • Mordekaiser
  • Riven
  • Tryndamere
  • Kennen
  • Jayce

Most of these champions are playable in determined matchups, most of them as a counter pick or when they match the “theme” of your team comp. They are not good blind picks, however, and some of them require very good mechanics (Akali & Riven, for example).

Out of these champions, Illaoi is the 1v9 champion, thanks to her insane sustain & damage with her tentacles & Ultimate. She can always surprise the enemy with a well-timed Leap of Faith and completely swing a team fight in her team’s favour. She’s also not that hard to learn, so it won’t take that much time mastering her.
