The latest release of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator series could bring in $2.6 billion in hardware sales. The game quickly became the highest-rated on MetaCritic for this year. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 allows players to fly aircraft essentially anywhere on earth and touchdown at over 37,000 airports.
Jon Peddie Research, a global leader in tracking the hardware spend of gamers, has estimated that the game will sell 2.27 million units over the next three years. Based on this assumption, they predict that players will spend $2.6 billion on hardware upgrades with the specific intent of improving their flight simulator experience in that same time period.
