A short cinematic trailer has been released to announce the 2021 Halloween beta for Midnight Ghost Hunt. The last time the game was available to players was during its August 2021 alpha.
To those unaware, Midnight Ghost Hunt is a game inspired by Prop Hunt from Gary’s Mod. Prop Hunt consists of a team of props and a team of hunters.
Hunters need to find the props and kill them while props need to survive until the timer reaches zero. They survive by disguising themselves as props to blend in with the environment.
Midnight Ghost Hunt consists of ghost hunters and ghosts, and ghosts hide in props by possessing them while ghost hunters use ghost hunting equipment to track and kill them.
It’s not surprising to see the game be made available again on Halloween weekend. What is surprising, however, is that this is no longer an alpha, but a beta, meaning that the game is now that much closer to a full release.
The developer blog details all the changes in this build of Midnight Ghost Hunt, including an improved matchmaking system, a progression system so as to not overwhelm players, a cosmetic overhaul, prop layout variations (which makes players with photographic memory less fearsome), and a new voice chat system.
As for the game content itself, a new map is included, Graveyard. Quite a fitting map for the game, right?
Furthermore, 2 new weapons have been added for ghost hunters: a Flamethrower and Riot Shield. They are also given a new gadget: Medic Kit, which can heal you and your teammates quickly.
Additionally, they are given 2 new perks: Overkill, which allows hunters to carry two weapons at the cost of not having a gadget, and Gadgeteer, which is the reverse of Overkill: no weapons, but 2 gadgets.
Uhnfortunately, there isn’t anything new for ghosts this time around. The beta will run from Friday, October 29th to Monday, November 1st at 3AM EDT.
