All those long arduous hours of mining, looking for rare minerals do take their toll. Luckily, the game does allow you to craft and make a bed. Wouldn’t be an immersive experience if you couldn’t decorate your house the way you want, would it?
How to craft a bed in Minecraft?
To craft a bed in the game you will need the following resources:
- 3 units of Wool
- 3 units of Wooden planks
Now, bring up the crafting table and add the three units of wool in the middle row. Add the 3 planks of wood to the bottom-most row of the 3×3 crafting table and you will get a bed as the result. Next, move the bed to the inventory and you will be able to use it. Simply open the inventory and place the bed wherever you want.
However, this is easier said than done. As mentioned, you will need 3 wooden planks to make a bed in Minecraft. If you haven’t noticed, that’s not something you get directly in the game. So, let’s learn a bit more about that.
How to get wooden planks?
First, cut down some trees. This in turn will get you some wooden logs. Now, to convert the logs into planks, you will need the help of the Survival Inventory Crafting Table. Place the logs into the Survival Inventory Crafting Table and they will get converted to planks.
Now, fill all the squares of your Survival Inventory Crafting Table and you will get the 3×3 crafting table.
How to get Wool?
Wool is the next main ingredient necessary to make a bed in Minecraft. Luckily, this is a resource that is pretty easy to come by. However, if you want to do it efficiently, I would suggest investing in a good pair of shears.
To craft shears, you will need to open your Survival Inventory Crafting Table. Place two iron ingots in the top left and bottom right slots. Doing this will craft a pair of shears you can use.
Now, equip the shears onto your character and go look for some sheep. Use the shears on the animals and you will get Wool as a drop. The other method is to kill these animals, but, it reduces the chances of getting wool as a drop.
How to make a colored bed in Minecraft?
To make a colored bed in the game you will need to use a combination of dyes. Open your crafting table and place the bed in the center block. Now, place any color dye you want to the left or right of the bed and you will get a bed of that color.
To make a color dye you need to place the ingredients on the crafting table. You can find all the recipes below:
- Brown: Cocoa Beans
- Green: Cactus + Furnace
- Gray: Black Dye + White Dye
- Light Blue: Blue Orchid or Blue Dye + White Dye
- Cyan: Blue Dye + Green Dye

- Magenta: Purple Dye + Pink Dye or Lilac plant
- Orange: Orange Tulip
- Purple: Red Dye + Blue Dye
- Yellow: Sunflower or Dandelion
- White: Bone Meal or Lily of the Valley
