MSI 2021: Why Are Players Picking Morgana Jungle?

Updated:

One champion that was changed to revolutionize the entire game also had a major impact at one of the largest League of Legends tournaments of the season.

Prior to 11.8, the jungle meta consisted of Udyr and Hecarim being swapped around. This ensured that the entirety of MSI meta had to be changed for the jungle to ensure change and a higher level of entertainment.

Morgana being buffed in the jungle in patch 11.8 position was enough to make her a permanent jungler. Even though she was toned down slightly in the 11.9, which is the MSI patch, she remains a staple pick in pro play at this current moment.

At MSI, Morgana currently holds a 91.9% presence rate meaning that she is either picked or banned in 91.9% of the games. She can be understood to be a power pick because of the fact that she has been banned 23 times so far.

Of those 23 times being banned, she was banned 14 times on the red side. This means that she is usually going to be first picked if given the opportunity for the blue side. Which demonstrates the significance of the pick in draft and team compositions.

The champion itself currently has a 72.7% win rate with a 8-3 record.

Cloud9 superstar jungler Blaber, who also won the spring split MVP of the LCS is currently undefeated on the champion and holds the highest KDA on the champion. Blaber’s Morgana KDA currently sits at an impressive 8.0.

In addition to this, the other top junglers from the big four regions in the tournament such as Canyon, Wei, and Elyoya, are also all undefeated on Morgana in the jungle.

Morgana being undefeated in the hands of the major region junglers shows that she is a power pick that can make or break a team composition or break down a team completely due to her crowd control and utility.
