Welcome to this quick guide for the long-awaited release of update 4 for Satisfactory and all of the new details!

The new content in Update 4 has not been as game-changing as the fluids and pipes system in Update 3, but it has added a large number of new items into the game otherwise.

We have now seen the available items and buildings that have been added to Satisfactory. These include process changes such as moving Super Computers and Turbo Motors, from Tier 7 up to Tier 8.

Instead of each building having the same looking interface, each building will now have it’s own customised UI. The AWESOME Shop UI will also receive an overhaul.

Recipes

Some recipes have also been amended, the Radio Control Unit, Iodine Infused Filters, and Batteries, which have had a re-work to their production.

Resources

Nitrogen gas has been added as a new resource, acquired from resource wells. Build the Pressuriser on the main centre node and this will activate the satellite nodes around it. Which can then be used with an extractor to remove the material via pipes.

Oil and water resource wells have been added as an extra extraction method.

Nuclear uranium waste can now be turned into plutonium! So you can get rid of all of your nuclear waste and turn it into plutonium fuel rods. Plutonium also has a build-up of waste, but it’s produced much slower. It’s also a lot more radioactive!

Don’t lose your save game!

See below for important update 4 info.

The new features will initially only be available for the Experimental version of the game, with an expected 1 month period before update 4 is then released for Early Access.

The earliest changes in milestones you will see will most likely be around Tier 5. Many late-game changes means players will see a lot of things break in their world. To best prepare your world for the changes, use these tips:

  1. Don’t start investing in Tier 7
  2. If you do invest, stockpile late-game parts

The way the content files of the game are distributed has changed, making the game backend more modular. This means that the game will probably need to be completely redownloaded with the release of update 4.

Massive Overhaul to the Power System.

Generators (except Biomass Burners) will now always consume fuel at the maximum rate and no longer proportionally to power draw. Excess power can now be stored in ‘Power storage’ facilities.

Geothermal generators will now have a fluctuating amount of power between 100w-300w. You can use battery storage (see image below) to store any excess power ready for downtimes.

Also being introduced to the power system are power switches (see image above & below). Power Switches allow you to isolate a certain area of your power supply. It’s useful for turning a whole factory on or off and only using it when you want to. You also get to name the switches!

Lighting

Extra lighting has been added to Satisfactory in the form of indoor factory lights, which stretch out long across the ceiling. The second set of lights added are big tall spotlights, which are more geared towards using outside. And thirdly, street lights, for decoration.

You can set the brightness and colour of all of these lights!

Drones

Drone

Long-range, low resource transport. 1 drone has quick access around the map and it’s much easier to set up than the trucks, railway and conveyor belts.

Drones require batteries for fuel. Drones may not carry heavy loads of resources, but their battery consumption rate and travel speed become more efficient the further away from that they travel.

Requires one drone port at each end. Connect your parts to be transported, hook up the batteries and the drone will get to work.

Hover Pack

The hover pack is a wearable item for the player that straps onto your back. While wearing it, the hover pack wirelessly connects to power poles and power connectors on buildings, allowing you to fly and hover.

The hover pack isn’t very fast but it allows you a great vantage point when laying outbuildings and overseeing your production lines.

Particle Accelerator

The particle accelerator is a high tier building that uses a lot of power! The power requirements vary depending on recipe, so be sure to check.

It produces plutonium pellets and project part #9, Nuclear Pasta!
