Nintendo Switch Lite Refurbished is Now Available From Nintendo

Updated:

The Nintendo Switch Lite was released on September 20, 2019, and proved to be quite a financial success. Now, over a year later, Nintendo is allowing gamers to purchase refurbished Nintendo Switch Lites for $169.99 USD.

The refurbished products come with a one year warranty and coming straight from Nintendo, the standards for Authentic Nintendo Refurbished Products are quite high when compared to buying from retailers like GameStop.

Interested consumers will find the refurbished product in one of three colours: yellow, turquoise, and gray.

Before purchasing, keep in mind that the main feature of the Lite is that it functions solely as a handheld and cannot dock into TV mode, so some games are restricted on it. Also, since its joysticks have the same design as the JoyCons, it is prone to “drifting,” meaning that if the issue surfaces and requires fixing, the entire Nintendo Switch Lite unit will need to be sent to Nintendo for repairs.

The Nintendo Switch Lite boasts long battery life than the Nintendo Switch, however, and does function really well as a handheld console. According to Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa, 30% of the Switch Lite sales were from existing owners of the original Switch console, acting as a backup console for them.

For the more hardcore gamers, the regular Nintendo Switch console may be better, and they are also available refurbished on the Nintendo store. But for those who would prefer to use their Switch in handheld mode, then the Lite is definitely the way to go, provided that they are not interested in any games that cannot be played in handheld.
