A Pokémon Presents showcased new details in the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While it is largely closer to the original games than the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, there are several features that have been reworked and expanded on as shown in the trailer, alongside some new ones.
Grand Underground
In the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, The Underground is an area underneath the Sinnoh region. This Underground can be explored and players can participate in activities such as mining and making secret bases.
In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the area is named “Grand Underground.” A new feature has been added, known as Pokémon Hideaways. Hideaways will contain Pokémon. The Pokémon that appear will change depending on the statues you have in your secret base.
Some Pokemon can only be found in Hideaways.
Capsule Decoration
Trainers can attach stickers to their Pokéball. This will result in special particle effects when the Pokémon is send out into battle.
Trainers will need to collect stickers throughout the course of the game.
Trainer customization
Unlike in the original Diamond and Pearl, players can customize their trainer avatar in game with a variety of outfits that are available in game.
Super Contest Shows
Pokémon Contests make a return, but now feature a rhythm-game like sections. Pokémon can also use Pokémon moves to impress the audience, similar to the original Pokémon Contests.
Union Room
The Union Room is an online room that players can use to interact with other trainers online in real time. Players can initiate trades and battles this way.
The game will also feature local wireless features in the Union Room.
Walking Pokémon
A very popular feature is brought back: your Pokemon will now follow you in the overworld. This feature was missing in the base game of Pokémon Sword and Shield, but was added in the DLCs for the game.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release on November 19, 2021. A Dialga and Palkia themed Nintendo Switch Lite is also releasing on Friday, November 5, 2021, ahead of the game’s release.
Those are the highlights for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl from the Pokémon Presents.
