It’s time for yet another event! This time its the Pokémon Go Incense Day, starring Mareep, the wool Pokémon – alongside other dragon and electric types.

For those of you who are new to incense days, effectively in normal circumstances, an incense being used would lure Pokémon to you for a set duration. Usually these lure in Pokémon that are nearby, but you’d occasionally get some surprises mixed in too. The incense item instead lures things in according to what the event specifies it should – meaning everyone gets a chance at Pokémon they might not normally see.

The event will run from 11:00 am local time on Sunday the 24th of January, and end later that same day at 5:00 PM local time – Local time means that it’s whatever the time is for you that counts. During the event, you’ll be seeing Mareep across all hours, but some other Electric and Dragont types will pop up throughout the day at varying times. What times do you ask? Well:

  • 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM will be Electric Type Pokémon
  • 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM will be Dragon-Type Pokémon (or those that evolve into dragon types)
  • 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM will be more Electric Type Pokémon.
  • 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM will be Dragon-Type Pokémon (or those that evolve into dragon types) again.

Now, those are indeed broad terms, but luckily we know what Pokémon will be appearing during this event already – of course, first of all, we have the star of this Pokémon Go Incense day – Mareep.

Following Mareep during the Electric type Pokémon hours will be:

  • Pikachu
  • Magnemite
  • Voltorb
  • Chinchou
  • Mareep
  • Plusle
  • Minun
  • Stunfisksadly not available as a shiny yet

Meanwhile, Dragon-type Pokémon hours will include these Pokémon alongside Mareep:

  • Horsea
  • Dratini
  • Mareep
  • Trapinch
  • Vibrava
  • Swablu
  • Bagon

All featured Pokémon aside from Stunfisk will be available as shinies – sorry for those of you who love Stunfisk Niantic hasn’t gotten ’em all shiny ready yet. You might want to keep an eye out for Bagon – and yes, Stunfisk too, shiny or not – as both are typically quite rare outside of the event. A small fact that Bagon has thoroughly enjoyed reminding me of during the Pokémon Go: Hoenn Celebration Event given I still haven’t found him.

If you want a boost getting the maximum value out of the Pokémon Go Incense Day event, you might want to check the in-game store during the event! You’ll find an event-exclusive 1 PokéCoin bundle featuring three Incense – whether you use them during the event is entirely up to you, but its worth logging in even if it’s purely to grab those so cheaply.
