Pokemon Sword & Shield: New Event Begins – Runs until Feb 8

Here is all we know about the new Pokemon event that came out of nowhere! Make sure you read on to help complete this new Pokemon community challenge!

Pokemon fans, rejoice, because the seemingly never ending stream of content Pokemon is shoving our way recently keeps getting bigger.

Today it was announced that there would be a big Wild Area update which will change the potential dynamax raids we’ll be seeing pop up in game until Feb 8th. Make sure you update your wild area news by logging online and clicking “Mystery Gift” in your menu.

The event ties in directly with the upcoming movie titled, “Secrets of the Jungle” which focuses on Ash and his journey with the most recent mythical Pokemon, Zarude.

In the coming days, players should notice that dens will have a high chance featuring Pokemon found within the movie. The biggest one to look out for is Cramorant, the flying/water type introduced in Sword and Shield. The event is similar to the Zeraora event last year in a way. Players will be rewarded based on how many Cramorants can be defeated up till the events finale on February 8th.

If 500,000 players log on and defeat Cramorant, all players will receive a gift of one Flame Orb, one Toxic Orb, and the very rare Light Ball item which boosts only a Pikachu’s Attack and Special Attack stats when held. As of right now, this item is only available as a very rare reward from the Cram-O-Matic.

If 1,000,000 players log on and defeat Cramorant, all players will receive a Gold Bottle cap, 3 regular bottle caps, and 3 pearl strings as well as the previous rewards.

The best part of this whole event is this: there is a very high chance that one of the Cramorants you encounter will be shiny! Pokemon has done shiny raids before, the last one being Tauros, and the odds will probably be similar, somewhere around 1:17. So definitely battle and help out fellow players as much as possible for your chance at this beautiful bird pictured below.

It’s orange! Isn’t that something?

Best of luck batting and catching your Cramorants, trainers! And if you’re looking to train up a new shiny Cramorant of yours, maybe check out our beginners guide to easy EV and IV training in Sword and Shield.
