Back during the days of RuneScape 2, a high-levelled dungeon known as God Wars Dungeon was released. In RuneScape 3, another high level dungeon was released. The Heart of Gielinor is also known as “God Wars Dungeon 2.” RuneScape has been teasing Elder God Wars Dungeons for some time now, and it looks like they will be revealing it very soon.
The reveal will take place on Friday July 16th at 16:00 Game Time (UTC) and will be shown on RuneScape’s YouTube channel.
What is God Wars?
Initially, God Wars Dungeon was just a high-level dungeon that allowed players to earn pieces of the Godsword Blade. The blade could be attached using a hilt from one of the four god factions in the dungeon. This would create a Saradomin, Zamorak, Armadyl, or Bandos Godsword, each with unique effects.
At the time, it was one of the best weapons and was popular in PvP, particularly, the Armadyl Godsword.
God Wars Dungeon has since been a part of RuneScape’s in-game lore and is tied to the history of Gielinor (the name of the world).
The Heart of Gielinor (God Wars Dungeon 2) was an even higher level dungeon that followed a similar structure to the original God Wars Dungeon. It had its own unique rewards from the dungeon’s bosses.
The bosses this time are generals from Zamorak, Zaros, Seren, and Sliske (the last one being the only non-god entity).
The Heart of Gielinor is where Gielinor’s anima (living energy of the universe and source of magic) flows through. The gist of the war is that each faction is fighting to claim the source of anime for their own.
RuneScape’s Elder God Wars
Runescape Elder God Wars Dungeon follows in the Elder God Wars storyline. The storyline started with the quests Azzanadra’s Quest, Battle of the Monolith, and City of Senntisten.
Elder God Wars Dungeon will be delivered in four “fronts,” with the first one coming later this month. The first one will feature the Elder God, Jas, launching an attack on the Cathedral and only players with at least 92 Slayer can take on the minions.
The other three Elder Gods, Ful, Wen, and Bik will be a part of Elder God Wars Dungeon. Mah, the youngest Elder God, had met her end during the events of Fate of the Gods.
A unique aspect of Elder God Wars Dungeon that separates it from the other two is that it will feature skilling content instead of only combat. Level 90 Construction will come in handy to assist in bolstering the Cathedral’s defenses.
Other minimum recommendations prior to participating Elder God Wars Dungeon are as follows:
- Tier 80 gear or higher
- Level 80 in all stats for your chosen combat style
- Azzanadra’s Quest
- Battle of the Monolith (miniquest)
- City of Senntisten
- Desperate Times
- Desperate Measures
These are only recommendations and not hard requirements. For lore-loving players, the following quests will help with the context of the events in Elder God Wars Dungeon, in addition to the above quests:
