Sony announced that it will be showcasing the PlayStation 5 in a live event on June 4th. This livestream will take place on Twitch and YouTube and will show us what games are waiting when the console drops this Holiday. The stream is expected to last a little over an hour and will be full of what the PS5 has to offer.

Sony has revealed different aspects of this new console such as the hardware specs and the new DualSense controller, but now we finally get to see some gameplay. This is an exciting opportunity to see what the newest PlayStation is actually capable of. The specs written down on paper only mean so much; now it’s time for Sony to back it up. “The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware,” stated Sony President & CEO Jim Ryan.
Hopefully the showcase will offer gameplay from Sony’s original game lineup and not just third party developers. This was the case for the Xbox Series X reveal. Xbox Game Studios lack of display was disappointing. This is especially true for all gamers who were waiting for more details on Halo Infinite.
The livestream will take place on June 4th at 1pm PST. I can’t wait to see what advances Sony has made for the next generation console. And even if the games shown next week don’t impress, which will be hard to do, Sony plans on showing more content for the PS5 throughout the summer. Whether or not this will bring more excitement than Microsoft’s showcase is yet to be determined. All I know is that I am beyond excited for both consoles to bring in more updates for all gamers.
