Earlier this week, EA & DICE wrapped up the content updates for Star Wars Battlefront 2, which was released back in 2017. They are still supporting the game long-term by keeping the servers active, doing events like double XP, etc, but now, in 2020, Star Wars Battlefront (which was released back in 2004), is finally getting online multiplayer on PC.
A recent update of the game saw the features added, as well as multiple language support. The message from Steam reads;
Online multiplayer on Steam has been added to the game. We also made the following changes to the game:
French, Italian, German, Spanish language support added
Additional audio support added
Addressed a number of menu and gameplay issues for a number of different screen sizes
This only applies to the Steam version of the game, not the GOG version at present. The original Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005 has also had multiplayer on PC for a while now.
So if you preferred the originals over the newer versions, now you can join like-minded people and relive the classics.
Both Steam and GOG are holding Star Wars Day sales at the minute, with many titles being discounted by 40-75%. And, Xbox are also holding a sale for Star Wars Day, if you’re a console player.
As mentioned before, you can still enjoy the newer Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2017. It recently got its final content update. The “Battle for Scarif” adds a new map based on Rogue One and new The Rise of Skywalker hero and villain appearances such as Rey’s yellow lightsaber, Emperor Palpatine in his new robes, and Kylo Ren’s hood and new mask.
