Stardew Valley has plenty of activities to keep you amused in the role-playing simulator game. One of the more popular activities is fishing. Not only goes the game allow you to go out and catch fish but there is also plenty of different fishes to catch.
The mechanics of catching a fish within the game may not be the easiest but that hasn’t stopped people from wanting to complete their compendium and catch everything that there is to offer.

How to catch a Sturgeon in Stardew Valley?
The Sturgeon is very particular and can only be caught from one area in the game, which is Mountain Lake, situated just North of Pelican Town. It can be caught in the Summer and Winter during the times of 6 AM and 7 PM, making the fish widely available to catch.
What weather to catch the Sturgeon?
The Sturgeon isn’t picky in what weather it is caught in, however, there are still some conditions. The least common weather to catch it is on rainy winter days. The only way to catch a Sturgeon would be if you used a Rain Totem to make it rain.
In contrast, the most common days to get your hands on this fish is rainy summer days.
If you are still struggling to catch the fish, cast further away from the shore. The fish is more likely to latch on that way.
If you don’t want to catch the fish but still would like to have a Sturgeon, then there are a few other ways to obtain the fish. The Sturgeon will randomly appear in Krobus’ shop on Wednesday. It will sell for 200g.
The Traveling Cart will also sell the fish, varying in price from 600 to 1000g, one of the pricier ways of obtaining it.
Is Sturgeon needed for anything?
A lot can be done with the Sturgeon once it has been caught.
A Sturgeon is needed for the Lake Fish Bundle to help complete the Fish Tank in the Community Center. Once this particular bundle is completed, you will be rewarded with a Dressed Spinner.
It can be used in three recipes which are:
- Maki Roll
- Quality Fertilizer
- Sashimi
Sturgeon can be used on the spool of the Sewing Machine located at Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane. It is used to create the Fishing Vest. It can also be used for dyeing, creating a blue dye.
It is highly beneficial to put Sturgeon in your fishpond. They reproduce every 4 days. The Sturgeon Roe can be used to create Caviar, one of the more profitable items in the game, selling for between 500-700g.
Like all fish, you can gift your caught Sturgeon to Willie, who will be hanging out at the docks. He’ll gladly take them off your hands and you’ll get an additional 80 friendship points with him. It is also one of his favourite fish so the more the merrier!
