Where to find tuna
Finding the best location for tuna fishing is easy, but it’s the wait that you will have to be prepared for. Some get lucky and catch tuna or even a golden tuna relatively quickly, but if it takes you a while to get a bite, don’t worry – you are not alone.
The best place to begin fishing for tuna is to travel south of Pelican Town towards the ocean. Setting up a fishing spot directly outside of Willy’s Fish Shop is a good idea, so that you are close to supplies if you need to replenish.
Tuna are only available to catch during the summer and winter seasons, between 6am and 7pm, and they also cannot be caught at night.
If this method is becoming too tedious for one day, you can always try garbage diving. Tuna rarely spawns in garbage cans during the summer or winter, but today could be your lucky day.
How to catch tuna in Stardew Valley
Tuna can be caught in-game like any other type of fish. There is sadly no magic technique that will attract tuna to your rod. Persistence is key. If you need help getting started, follow this guide on how to attach bait to your fishing rod.
The fishing process involves equipping your fishing rod, throwing the line into the water, and waiting until a fish bites. A bite will be notified with an exclamation mark followed by “HIT!”, which will then commence the mini-game.
The mini-game requires you to keep the rectangle near the moving fish icon until the bar is completely full. It may take you a couple of tries to get used to it.
Tuna perks
Tuna can strangely be used in the spool of sewing machines, in order to make the Sailor Shirt.
Tuna can also be put into a Fish Pond, where they will reproduce every 3 days. The Fish Pond has a 3-fish capacity, but this can increase to 10 when certain quests are completed.
