In Temtem, you may have seen other players riding on the waves and wondered how to ride them yourself. Here’s how to get a surfboard in Temtem.
Where to get a Surfboard
The Surfboard is a key item you get on the first island of Temtem. It’s made by Nikos, an NPC you can find in Turquesa, but he can not give you one. Instead, you’ll receive one at the Arissola Dojo, given by the dojo leader Sophia after defeating her. The problem is that she will be captured when you first arrive.
How to get a Surfboard
When you first find Arissola Dojo, you can’t get in. To re-open the dojo, you first need to head north to Windward Fort. There, you must fight your way through the tower until you reach the top, and defeat Lady Lottie who has captured Sophia and trapped her below. You can then free Sophia on a lower level. After that, all you need to do is return to the dojo in Arissola, and defeat her there in a Temtem battle to receive your prize.
Using a Surfboard
Once you have a surfboard, all you need to do is just run into the water and you will automatically start surfing. One thing to note, is that surfing can trigger wild Temtem encounters. So if you haven’t been able to find a Temtem you’ve seen that’s Water Type, it may be found by surfing.
Upgrading your Surfboard
Later on in your Temtem adventures, you may have also seen that there is acid that you can’t surf on with your normal board. In fact, the only way to ride it is to complete the main quest Water Supply. To complete this quest, you need to head to the Mines of Mictian, and collect water samples from two locations, then return to the NPC Sugey in the Xolot Reservoir.
