Trolls can be quite an intimidating enemy for beginners. So here are some tips about How to Defeat Trolls in Valheim.
When you leave the Meadows Biome and enter the Black Forest, suddenly you see a big blue Troll. That Troll, with a hit or two, kills you. And because of that, you start thinking that maybe it’s too soon to fight it. But it’s not.
How to Choose the Right Weapon
In Valheim, the how-to defeat Trolls path begins with choosing the right strategy and a good strategy involves choosing the right weapon. You may think that your (probably) recently crafted Stagbreaker it’s the answer, but your solution isn’t a fancy and intimidating war hammer, it’s your bow. Even a crude one will do.
Of course, nothing stops you from trying to defeat the Troll in Melee combat. But his hits are quite hard, so, distance combat is more reliable.
Get your Crude Bow, a few dozens of arrows, have a full belly and you are good to go.
Keep the Distance From the Troll
In order to fight exclusively with your bow, you must keep a distance from the Troll. Trolls are heavy and slow, therefore you can keep a somewhat good distance without having to run so often. Of course, if it gets too close, run.
You REALLY don’t want to get hit by any of its attacks. And beware, the Troll has a long log in its hands that can be used as a weapon.
Use the Environment
Since it’s very big and slow, the Troll has some trouble moving around. If you have lots of trees and big stones around your fighting area, they can help you create some distance between you and the Troll.
But beware, the Trolls hits can break somethings. Also, you don’t want to get stuck between two large trees. So choose your path well.
Talking about the fight environment, don’t fight a Troll near a wooden base. The Troll will destroy it easily.
Beware With More Enemies
The Troll is a dangerous enough problem on its own but, sometimes, the noise of the fighting can attract more enemies. If you have time and space, kill the secondary enemies as fast as you can. If not, keep running from them until you do.
Those secondary enemies can even kill you while you are too worried about the Troll.
