We rank all the Valorant agents so you can choose which agent to pick to increase your winning chances from our Valorant agent tier list.
Valorant is a tactical first-person shooter (FPS) developed and released by Riot Games in the second quarter of 2020. Ever since the release, the game has seen an addition of a lot of new agents changing its meta and allowing more innovative plays.
This Valorant agent tier list is made after the latest patch update from Riot Games. The tier list also takes into consideration the current meta and how an agent will fare in the ranked system.
While the simple point-and-shoot aspect of the game is easy to understand, we first need to go over the different types of agents. Let us go over the agent roles and start forming our tier list.
Valorant Agents Roles
With the launch of Valorant in June 2020, 6 new agents have been added ever since. Each agent provides a unique perspective to how the game should be played and each player can use an agent’s ability kit fitting to the player’s style.
With every agent possessing three unique abilities, including a signature (most often rechargeable ability) ability, it is important to understand the various types of agents and their predefined roles.
- Initiators: These agents can help the team brute force onto a site. They help create space and provide information pushing away the enemy team holding the site. Sova, Skye, Breach, KAY/O are the initiators in Valorant.
- Sentinels: These agents play usually act as an anchor on a site. They have the ability to stall for time or slow down the enemies attacking the site. Sage, Killjoy, Cypher are the sentinels in Valorant.
- Duelists: These agents excel at taking 1vs1 fights with the enemies. They have abilities that help them make solo plays or sneak into a site, usually making space for the team behind them. Yoru, Reyna, Phoenix, Raze, Jett are the duelists in Valorant.
- Controllers: These agents help minimize the chaos around attacking or defending a site. They have the smokes ability or other abilities that can slow down a rush from the opposite team. Brimstone, Viper, Omen, Astra are the controllers in Valorant.
Valorant Agents Tier List
With the agent roles being clear, let us get down to ranking the Valorant agents. Here is our Valorant Agents tier list:
S-Tier Agents
- Jett: Any player good at using the “Operator” in-game will excel with the same when playing Jett. The Jett’s dash ability considered by many professional players to date as broken, this agent makes fragging and closing in the gap on the enemies easier.
- Skye: Released after the initial launch, Skye is much more than a simple initiator. This agent’s kit has the healing ability, coming in handy to fully heal your injured teammate.
- Viper: Viper had his abilities tested and buffed in 2021. This agent has become a nuisance to play against especially after its ultimate being used on an area.
A-Tier Agents
- Sage: Despite the nerfs compared to the initial launch, Sage is one of the best sentinels in the game. The agent’s slow orbs can completely slow down an enemy push.
- Sova: The unique kit of Sova allows it to make a lot of space which can be capitalized on by the teammates. This agent requires a higher degree of smart plays to be fully effective.
- Killjoy: Introduced in the game as the 12th agent, Killjoy is great at stopping flanks and ensuring area control on various spots at one time. The agent’s ultimate ability being one of the best for retaking or attacking a site.
- Omen: Being sneaky to make amazing jaw-dropping plays or be it supporting your team from behind, Omen can do it all. The agent’s smokes being rechargeable allows it to provide up to five smokes in a single round.
B-Tier Agents
- Raze: This is an agent with high explosive power, blasting through the defenses, quite literally. The boom bot ability scouts for the enemies in its path and provides valuable information.
- Reyna: Being the 9th agent, Reyna is a pure aim-duel agent. With the agent’s abilities being put into use after getting a kill or an assist, players who love to take pure aim fights would fit right in with Reyna.
- Astra: The second most recent addition to the game, Astra has a high skill ceiling. Playing this agent the right way can be a source of headache to the opposition.
- KAY/O: The latest addition to the game, KAY/O is the perfect answer to the enemies posted on you with the Operator. This agent can be used to initiate as well as flash away the opponents aiming down your sightlines.
- Breach: A nuisance to play against, when teamed up with a good duelist, Breach can be a nightmare for the enemy team. With the flashes and stuns, the agent can help clear many angles while attacking.
- Cypher: This agent is great for team play and ensuring area control on a site.
C-Tier Agents
- Brimstone: With 3 smokes in his arsenal, Brimstone has great utility but it’s not something that other agents cannot replicate in a better way.
- Phoenix: While every duelist allows for movement or some other unique space clearing ability, Phoenix’s ability kit feels outdated compared to the rest. The ultimate for this agent is the only redeeming factor.
D-Tier Agents
- Yoru: One of the recent additions to the game, Yoru’s abilities, and pick-rate are both awful. Being good with the aim is the only way this agent can be viable but otherwise picking a different agent is in the best interest of your team.
